I find it cute. If you really want to insult me, you have to sound like you're older than 12, otherwise I'll basically treat you like you only have 5 words in your vocabulary.
Those that tend to get angry at this thing are probably those that are a bit too inherently honest for their own good. To them, they take everything at face value, so when people say that they want to fuck their dead mom, they treat it as the guy actually means it.
Flaming feels nice because you're venting anger but I never take it too seriously because it's in the internet(and I never start flame wars, I only retaliate). Especially the fact that the insults are childish. Are you gonna take it seriously when a twelve year old with a shitty mic wastes most of his limited vocabulary trying to insult you?
Trash people trying to be tough, yes their words are toxic and will make lots of people angry but the thing is, they know that they can't be harmed behind their screens so they talk like that, like what is the worst that can happen? whatever it is they won't be physically harmed and that gives them the 'courage' to be toxic like that
I think the toxicity is created by competitive environment. A lot of LoL players will tell you winning is fun, not playing the game itself. I myself observed a change in my toxicity when I changed from being a filthy casual to playing ranked games again. Anecdotal evidence, but i think it's true for a lot of the player base.
I thought it would be about SOAD Guess I am not the only one I am from the era of not regulated servers where mods could ban you due to being petty so... If I got a coin for each toxic message, I would be a billionaire I mean, everything that don't bring you a value you can always ignore.
Depends on what champs/positions ur playing honestly. I used to main Graves and that shet was impossible to have fun with if I didn't get ahead or get a good play. Jungle is very stressing role specially now overall. Then you have Malphite, Graves Mid, Shaco Top (bless Pink Ward's soul), AD LeBlanc and even Yasuo with which you can have hilarious plays and games even if you end negative and losing.
Words, no matter if written or spoken, affects people. So there may be times where it rubs the wrong way, especially if the statement is offensive, to the point where some can't help but answer back. I usually mute toxic people in games and ignore them. They keep annoying others with their limited vocabs and I wouldn't want my enjoyment to be disrupted.
First time I tried DOTA, I got flamed so hard I didn't touch it again until my friends got me to try DOTA 2 a few years ago. That was over 10 years ago, but nowadays I just ignore such things. Also stayed the hell away from MOBA games, since I would like to enjoy a peaceful game.
Anyone who has been tormented in real life is going to feel a stronger reaction to online tormenting. Does not matter if the person writing the horrible things does not mean it, as long as the person reading it feels the pain. Also, every person has their inverse scales. Take your initial example and now imagine the person had just lost their mother. How would YOU feel in that situation?
Most of the Time i dont care about such comments and insults (In Fact i drive them even more Mad7Crazy with a few well timed Words ). Only if on a few Times, where i am already agited, do i get bothered with such Toxicity. But because i know that this will only get worse, do i simple mute them and continue to play, to slowly let my anger Cool down.
Great points. But they are exceptions rather than the norm. As for the question, you simply don't care. The people who grew up with the internet, we have a filter that automatically separates fiction from reality. Would it be insensitive? Yes. Should I care? No. See the first screenshot, the one with a dead mother teased the flamer asking him if he wanted to fuck a dead body.
