    Oh? Which country are you from?
    I call my father baba too. And my mother um-ma. But when I'm referring to my mother, not calling her, I call her simply "ma".
    I am Bengali BTW. And it's not really that common nowadays to call your mother "um-ma". People just use "ma" but for some reason I use that.

    Edit: Oh! You're Bengali too!! Found another Bengali!! Have you found any other Bengalis here? Do you know Tanzi who is also Bengali? What types of novels do you read!?....I should probably create a separate conversation for this.

    "Mum/Ma." and "Baba" because one bothered to learn the language of the country they moved to, and the other did not. Lol.

    Why do you call yor father "baba" when it's actually wife of "deda" who are parents of "mama" and "papa"? :D

    Usually just "mom" and "dad", between my siblings, sometimes we refer to them as something like mommy, papa, mama, etc.
    I called my grandparents "baachan" and "jiichan".
