*shrugs* Authors should decide rather they want to sign a contract or not.

If they are not happy with the new terms... Just don't sign the new contract. Axe your story and then start writing a new one in a new platform.

Really, there is no reason to care much about all this, it's one big company changing their terms of service, but there are other companies out there, you don't need to work with that one company that you don't like the practices of.

Unfortunately most Chinese companies follow what other big companies does so there is no other websites. Believe me author of BTTH tried it

Then worry about it in the day that all Chinese Webnovel sites follow this exact same policy.

Until then, carry on and choose what site you prefer.

Confirm it? All he posted was basically an anonymous summary from someone. I can do the same:

    Tencent now eats authors souls
Tencent reserves the right to eat the authors children.

I'm not shocked that they would do something like suggested by the post, publishers all over the world are scummy. I'm just shocked by the lack of links directly to the contracts so we can see these details instead of randoms claiming they are in the know.

The only direct link I could find was one that suggested they are offering 3 different contract types as best I can understand, and authors can choose. But even then that didn't have full contract details.

That's what I'm confused about. There should be plenty of authors ranting about it, giving copies of the contract out, competitors explaining why they are better, etc. I don't think it's in any way beyond Tencent to do this but there should be exact details out there somewhere.

Must be my fault, i recently started to put my novel on Qidan. I'm unlucky like that. I won't be signing no contract though as it sounds like something out of a horror story.

giving copy contract to public is no no~ really~ it can make thing complicate for the owner~ on basic it can become trust problem for future business so unless it on court nah doubt it~ plus it may protected by nda thing on key point~

So that's why there's random 24 character core values in chinese wn... well, the more you know. :cookie:

Are there any follow up official statement from Tencent regarding the author's backlash?
