Discussion Webnovel rankings rigged?

I noticed for a while now that Full Marks Hidden Marriage has been in the top spot for a while now, but thought nothing of it as everyone has their own tastes, however when I finally checked and saw that the novel was completed over a year ago and yet from my memory this novel never dominated the rankings in the past. Are there really that many real people who constantly rate that book every day or is just a bot army propping the book up to make the translator money?

Its bad for business, some of the first books new readers will see are the top rated ones, if they are crap the readers will just go elsewhere as their first experience is that even qidians best books aren't that good. No matter what kind of people qidian are, not liking money isn't one of them.

 

There is indeed a surplus of bots that makes the theory of it being rigged quite plausible.

As far as I can tell, novels are only rigged for the first few weeks after launch. It is probably that people just click the ranking tab and use there powerstones on the first item like how they use the lookahead stones on the first item.

 

Because there is no real answer, everyone just assumes it's bots because that's the the most likely thing.

 

AFAIK, it's very popular among the josei audience and is rated pretty high even on NU. As someone who lurks in NU's the recommendation threads, I have seen it recommended countless times. So, it's possible that it really deserves its spot in the rankings. Plus, it's first in only one category of the rankings, not in all of them.

A good analogy would be ranking of BL novels on NU.

True, not only in the novel Ranking system, the "What's Next novel" voting system is ruin too. If you notice they controlled the flow of release of novel.

You just wasting your time voting there and waiting for earlier release.

 

If I were to make a comparison, I think Emperors Domination is complete garbage and should never be recommended, never mind popular. however, people like to read crap now and then for a change of pace from the quality stuff. Like those who usually smoke only Cubans will occasionally smoke a packet of supermarket discount cigarettes just to remind themselves of the vast difference in quality.

This story is the same. It has a popular crowd who within reason can support it, causing it to list highly. but with Webnovel, it's also a possibility that they rig the lists themselves even without outside intervention or support.

Also, there is no such thing as "bad for business" on a novel website other than paywalls. because it's just an advisory box, it isn't forcing you to read that series alone and most people don't put stock in what others find to be "high quality". differences in taste.

just like the mech touch or whatever was the name it got massively popular out of nowhere... and there is big disconnection between the comment sect and ranking+reviews for novels as when ever a top 20 novel faces negative reaction from the readers it doesn't get affected when it comes to reviews (can be explain with authors deleting bad reviews which is apparently pretty common) nor in the ranking which is the weird part, like not even a dip, just a flat line day in day out. cough supreme magus cough...

 

If I remember the novel has a webtoon atm so maybe it's because of that too?

lol, the whole thing is rigged, they will even remove reviews they don't like (had it happen personally). This is why everything has such a relative high rating.

Of course in some cases Qidian gives out limited access to novels and features them, so they might get higher traffic in general.

But regardless, yes it's rigged.
