I need something to read that is filled with pain, betrayal, tragedy etc.. Pretty much anything that can make even toughest person cry a river. What i don't want is harem or bl. Everything else is fine, and better if story is action based and mc is strong that puts up a fight. But i'm fine pretty much with anything rn just so i can build up my tragedy filled reading list. Thanks in advance for recommendations. :blobcozy:

Unfortunately i dont like tragedy so i don't have a lot. The best story among those i read that can be considered a tragedy is "The Bleak Walker" on scribblehub. It has a lot of anxious/sad moments. The overall atmosphere is very bleak and pessimistic. But the worldbuilding is awesome and the story is very interesting.
Other than that i can't really think of any other truly tragic stories, a few like "To Deprive a Deprived Person" and "Vermillion" are quite dark, but not really tragic.
I hope you enjoy bleak walker

I'd recommend the Western web novel "Worm". It's one of my favourites even when I usually avoid novels that are that dark. Amazing world building, great characters, interesting team fights, a noble villain protagonist. The setting is a modern world with superpowers, and it gives an answer to "what if horrible people had superpowers? And what if random people had horrible powers?". There's tragedy in many side character's tales, pain, devastation, hopelessness, despair, betrayal, and true monsters... But also hope, recovery, and, perhaps, true heroes.

Apparently the other novels by the same author can be even darker, I haven't read them yet though.

I'm glad to hear that! The main problem/advantage of Worm is that it's really long, with long chapters... And it can get hard to stop reading. It now even has a sequel, which is also quite dark, but in a different way.

hi,who is the author of Worm?

For English, I highly suggest "The Passage" series by Justin Cronin. Sooo good!! Spent days cooped up at home reading this beauty.

The author of Worm is "wildbow". Their other novels are Pact (I don't know much about it), Twig (biohorrorpunk, kind of like Frankenstein monster biohorrors were normalised and are part of society), and Ward (sequel to Worm). Apparently he's now working on a story set in the same setting as Pact.

I usually google "Worm novel" to find it
