Ah, I never had to deal with this kind of dumb discourse... >.> Like, geez, as if a medium could have an age defined for it.
I dont think showing them the echhi ones and hentai will convince them, seeing as they even make porn out of children's cartoon.( I'm not kink shaming anymore). There is also a lot of blood and gore in marvel and DC animations(and I consider them for kids since I grew up with them). Maybe try and convince them with the plot seeing as how some anime really hit on an emotional level. I see anime as normal movies and series whose actors are animated though I dont watch as much as I used to
My parents didn't like seeing me watching anime during my teenage years. But they stop bothering me after I start going to college. Maybe because at the time I started college, anime already entered it's golden age and became mainstream.
Some people just like to bitch and whine about things. They just can't be happy unless they have something to cry about. I wouldn't even notice most of the things until someone pointed it out to me. There was an earthquake, just big to collapse the odd brick wall and partially collapse the rare building/house in my city and many buildings had damage to repair. Quite a few had to leave their residence due to burst pipes etc. A group of students/friends made an advertisement about rebuilding the city center and helping each other out during this time. The ad got pulled because it wasn't racially diverse enough. I feel like you'd have to be racist to even notice that kind of thing. The real issue with anime is like with any hobby/activity. Being careful when it becomes an addiction. That you don't let it influence your relationships with family and friends or your financial situation. Getting fired because you were late to work due to watching the last two episodes of gundam or because your boss found your notebook which describes how you want your co-workers to die means you have a problem.
Um...my experience is that, they think that but never said that to me face to face. The closer i got is that, they find it childish. They didn't diss anime tho, it's just that they find it hard to not see people who like anime as childish. I actually got this vibe from many my seniors, they a bit reluctant to give me responsibilities, either they feel i'm not ready enough or i was 'childish'. I couldn't even refute them when they said i'm 'child-ish' for i am really shorter than most people my age ahahahahaha
Just like the people who say apple juice is for kids. Thats fine ill enjoy this apple juice by myself then.
Huh. Who cares if someone else dont like what u like? Having to defend it all the time sounds exasperating.
That anime left terrible taste. you how hard it was to wash that off? I would rather have a bath with a skunk than have to wash that ending off again. That very cool of your family my parents are Hispanic they don't understand they don't want to understand and when they get together with other friends they make fun of me for my choices even tho none of them even have a high school diploma can't even speak 4 languages and don't even have my lvl of income which I boast about when they get annoying and one time I open the curtain and showed them my car and compared their's to rust bucket and trash can next to mine.
eh that easy~ better than drug or gambling or cheating or drinking~ it work cuz it easy see da bad side of that side as an adult~ joke aside nah this cat just laugh at some senior back then cuz thus cat was watching elfen laid train massacre scene when some of them talk like that ya know~ on their face~ since they shut up~ pure coincidence ya know~ anyway this cat just laugh at such thing cuz not even bothered to try to explain~
I already take a liking to anime from my childhood, have been reading manga since grade school, went I turn my attention full-on anime at my middle school and still watch it till today, i argue it by it's my own hobby my own free time and up to me to use, whenever my parent ask me about it. And i will argue "You swap the channel to a boxing match when I wanted to watch Digimon Pops, and that one only air once a week, on SUNDAY!" Lol i converted my brother too. Well, our taste somewhat different when he started (he like comedy because drama and mystery after work is just tiring, he said).... But when i get to his age today, i sort of understand his reasoning.
Alot of people hate their co-workers they just aren't stupid enough to write it down on a notebook,it applies to normies too.
I just one of those people who hide their anime watching ways from everyone else in fear of being teased. Mostly because I really don't like being teased or judged in any shape or form. Other than that I think that either anime or cartoons are generally made for a targeted audience that can understand it contents properly and saying its for certain age groups is doing a dis-service to it. Plus, wasn't some Cartoons made for grown-ups at first who would understand the references that was made in it? For example Nimrod which means skillful hunter but got butcher to inept person because of cartoons.
Disney: "beautiful animation = kid friendly." Adult swim: "if they get the reference, do we need to add more frames?" Anime: "more sexy, more gorey, more overly complex plot involving the fate of the multiverse caus' we can!" MAL: *adds R+17, R+, and Rx ratings*
