I mean we’re all stuck inside with nothing to do. So you would hope that would give author-sama’s more chances than normal to write. To tell you the truth. I haven’t really see that big of a release when compared to normal. Am I wrong. Am I not seeing something. Am I somehow missing something.
    I know. I know.
I need to be great full for what I have. But still am I the only one that was expecting an increase during the world wide quarantine.
I’m just being greedy. I know.
    I can still dream thou.
    Catch you guys later.

    Nah, didn't really expect it.

Since ideas don't come from free time but from thinking. And thinking is tiring work.
First comes the idea, then comes the vision, then the enactment upon that vision, then the reflection on the enactment and finally comes the "finished product".

If you need forced content, try reading more quantity-ful CN novels.

Ah, no. First of all, many people are busy even during these times. Some work from home, some work in industries effected by this and have many stresses to deal with. Some are simply not in the mentality because a loved one died or they are suffering from the virus (even if it isn't serious, even a flu can make you less productive).

Going out also helps spur ideas.

Not to mention I'll be honest, if I had free time, I would just stack more chapters to release when I would normally go on hiatus. This will go double for patreon based advanced chapters authors, as releasing more just means loss of income.

I was hoping for it, especially with the translators. But then, like Inv mentioned, I realized we have technology! ...Meaning most people are working online and have a similar workload to before the pandemic.

Some people did get indeed more free time to work on translations or writing, but I think most people prefer the slowly and steady approach. Doing things at their own pace instead of trying to rush due to extra time and stuff.

Personally speaking, I already worked from home-office, so nothing in my routine really changed... >.>

Well since they are authors to write they are already doing theirs job so to speak, and if they can still work by home it is not strange that the release rate is similar to before quarantine.
I for exemple can work by home because I work at IT so it is the same as working by home or at my workplace.
But yes it would be nice to have more chapters to read.

I was hoping for more releases but the translation scene is no longer what it was and is more business than casual so there is more of an effort to extend the length of income from a translation than translate fast or give mass releases often as a steady translation rate is better for consistent revenue

A bunch of translators do it full-time already. So a pandemic doesn't suddenly stop their job to make room for them to do more translating.

I felt this way back when it first started but then realized that most authors / translators were already shut ins so it makes no difference

I agree that to write you actually need some inspiration/stimulus from outside world. Like you see such a jacket on someone and think : this would look great on my character. If you stay at home all the time you will not see that jacket/that dog/ that car

As someone who writes or wrote(hiatus), I feel offended by your statement! Now sure, I might live in the attic, but I do come out once a blue moon during the night!

So can you please stop with the baseless stereotypes?

No, because like everyone else, translators are also having a bad time with this quarantine shit in their real life.

As a student, I have no idea how anyone was managing to pick up new skills/hobbies before the semester ended. I still had the same large amount of schoolwork and the same small amount of free time ( ; ω ; ) So I could only start translating after that was all over.
