The graphic may be outdated by today's standard, especially compared to the graphics of Warhammer Total War and Sengoku 2 Total War. Despite that, it offers a very unique gameplay not shared among the other total war games. The battles are complex with different strategies to take and different troops with different commanders to make every battle different from the other. Unlike the standard total war, a conquest can't be resolved in just one turn. You need to first conquer their villages first. Then once the village is down, an outlying town, if any will also need to be conquered. Then and only then will you be able to conquer the territory. However, it's not going to be so easy. Because the enemy will not simply let you stay in their villages, they will certainly attack you there in order to take back their territory and regain their lands. You are also not the biggest kid on the block. You start with one territory in the middle of enemies both human and animal. But don't worry, just because you only have 1 land, doesn't mean you'll be beaten up, unlike Shogun 2 Total War. No, you can improve your territory and make it more profitable. You can also take on quests for additional retainers, money or other bonuses. Pork Hunt for example gives you good income every few turns, though the difficulty scales up the more you do it. There are also dungeons you can explore for some much needed materials or artifacts. Let's talk about graphics. The graphics are 2D, but this is not to say that it is bad. It has its own charm. You can see the love poured into every hand-drawn sprites of the game. You just have to admire the skill and hard work that the illustrators put into making their characters look alive. The story is also great, and while it is sandbox, there is a goal to achieve in the game. It is only while in lockdown do you truly appreciate a good game. Here is the game in question. Spoiler: The game
wow all that great wall of text.... my hyper weapon hurted so much because of too much imperial juice when playing this xD ~and Kenshin is Best girl, why didn't she got a child from rance dammit~
Such wonderful bait. I was running forward to bite it, when a freight train came out of nowhere and ran over me. WHY MAL ? WHYYY ?? You got the wrong damn LEO !! What grow old together ? I never said that. I don't even know who you are. And so I started crawling towards the bait once more, and it started raining bombs and bullets from the clear sky. Before I knew it, some dumb looking guy came running, picked me up and started running once more in the other direction. MY BAIT !!!! But this guy sure runs fast. I feel like I have seen him somewhere, was it the airport lounge ? On a deserted island ? Flying a plane, or perhaps driving the train to North pole ? Or was it at the border of East and West Germany exchanging hostage with Russia ? Fine I will just let the bait go this one time.

for some reason, I could never get into those conquer the map with armies hentai games. Closest I got to enjoying one is when I played Daibanchou, but that's a little different. maybe because I found it hard to get interested in the pervy parts because of how detached it feels from the rest of the experience.
I got baited too.... There are a bit more modern sequels of Rance but their translation is still ongoing (VNDB says TBA)
