I just saw this on Steam today, so sorry if I'm behind on the news! https://store.steampowered.com/app/1213210/Command__Conquer_Remastered_Collection/ I'm amazed. Not only because these games are being remastered, but that - by all appearances - this is a true and glorious remastering, with everything from rerecorded music and Eva's voiceover acting to an entire list of gameplay features. This looks like a remaster done right. None of that "we basically released the same game as-is with maybe a filter thrown on it and oh we might have broken some stuff" that you get so often these days. No, this looks like a real project of passion. Gahhh, I love it. Bit of a shame they didn't include Tiberian Sun and Firestorm, but maybe those'll come later.
C&C wasn't bad, though preferred warcraft and starcraft overall (though I love C&C's towers). I do wish Star Command Deluxe would be remastered. That game was pretty good but got overshadowed by starcraft.
I grew up on RA2 so i can't relate on the remaster on the first one. But i kinda felt glad that the RTS genre isnt dead since i really like to play them as a kid and as an adult.
Err. Part of the reason I'm excited to see this remaster is that the RTS genre is dead. So.. y'know... yeah....... The Command and Conquer series remains one of the best RTS experiences you can have, even today, alongside other classics like Starcraft, Warcraft, Age of Empires, Rise of Nations, and others. Most of the great RTS titles are old as shit, because the genre has been stagnant for the past decade or two, with very few new titles and mostly none worth mentioning. There are exceptions, of course - Stellaris is nice, for example. But yeah... Overall, the genre has not grown or advanced at all.
Well, I grew up playing Westwood games, not RA tho, but the Generals series, even though some of the campaign stories from the series are mediocre. Although I do like RA, it just didn't click to me, especially since most of my friends play generals too(Multiplay is fun as heck).
*hugs* Ikr!? I played so much wc3 back in the day! >.< Though what annoyed me the most was that they messed up with the old battle net server and made things worse for the old game as well... Like, geez, wtf? Feels like the best way to play wc3 nowadays is to use an old cd that did not go through the update and play on a private server... It's just awful. orz
Possibly. Maybe if this does well enough, they might stretch to remaster the rest of the golden generation of C&C (Tib Sun and RA 2). I literally grew up playing C&C and it's the series that made me into a strategy game fan. The genre's been lacking lately which is very disappointing.
