Looks like the MC is pulling a mini Panama Canal. Nice. That’s going to open up trade with the entire continent or more. Next ships and cranes. With the river open. The MC can now ship ores from the beast men territory. Also send shipping to that one kingdom by the coast. Many birds with one stone. Good work

I think the canal thing will not go that smooth. If the other kingdom has that tight control on who can navigate that river, they wouldn't accept the change in the status quo without a fight.

 

That could be true, but I was getting a different vibe. It sounded more like a blockade with zero passage. Unless your a certain affiliation. So maybe they will be upset not having a monopoly anymore or excited that they have a bigger market. Will just have to see.

Well anyway. Looks like the MC is going to start building trains soon. Once again it’s about dam time.

 

Looks like the MC is heading to the tropics. He should invest in creating a combination of a Hawaii hotel and a Las Vegas hotel. All made out of concrete and built above the 10 foot mark. Have the first floor have breakaway walls. Also only keep carriages and animals there. Just in case of a Tsunami.
I would still drop massive amounts of mass produced concrete forms way out of the shore. To build artificial reefs.
As to the hurricane problems. Like Las Vegas built a pyramid and have everything inside. We could do the same. A stable building with no fear of the weather.
Problem solved.
If the MC can figure out how to make thick and strong glass he’d be set.

 

Coco and coffee = better than a gold mine. When you add in rubber. Than it’s a no brainer. The MC needs to invest. Personally I’d go the water route. Just because of the volume the MC is interested in. Although building a railroad might be better. The tsunamis could be handled by huge artificial reefs, but the hurricane factor is a tough call. But trains would not have that flaw. Also the volume could make this worth it. Still the sea route would open up more trade routes. While the train would be stuck on that one track. Tough call.
I guess long term is the sea path. The short term would be the railroad path. Personally I’d choose the sea, but the MC should probably go the train route.

Or trucks with refrigerated trailers. Trains calls for railroads, and those have strict paramenters of inclination and curves.

Maybe rivers, if he can make that channel.

 

If this country is prone to hurricanes. Having a blimp is probably not the best option. But your right about the restrictions inherent in a train. Still I can’t wait to see what he choose.

 

Probably then will be by river or by truck.

Author-sensei certainly can spew a lot of prejudices and make them sound reasonable.

 

I am from the tropics and that’s not how it is. Even ancient times we had a good economy. For a costal town the best economy is as a trading hub and a vacation destination.
As to mainlanders thinking we were lazy. The thing is we did need to fight the elements. It’s summer time all year round. Also most work only during cooler times and not in the middle of the day when it’s like 90F+. Volcanic soil is awesome soil. Abundant of sea life makes it’s an easier life when you compare it to people that are landlocked.
Hell our kingdom was the first city to be lit up with electricity before anyone else.
But let’s just leave this as what the author wish to have. Besides it needs a challenge needs to overcome.

You know the military does have one thing that might be useful to the MC. Manpower. Maybe the military could help dig the canal or help the road crew to build more roads. A trebuchet ain’t cheap, but than again the MC could switch out the base material to wood and remove the magical components. If they can do that. The military might be able to build it themselves too. I mean the Earth equivalent should be doable for the military.
