Just as the title states, I want a good novel involving a mother and their child. But I don't want some Male Lead to just insert themselves into the family. What I want is a novel like My Son Might Be A Villain, but without the ML. A mother who is capable of taking care of themselves and their child. I don't understand why all these novels have an "independent, single mother who works hard to raise their child" and then, BLAM! Insert cool, handsome ML who had no interest in women before meeting the MC, except maybe an unrequited love or something. Romance ensues. I just want a wholesome novel without some generic Tall, Rich, & Handsome muddying the waters.
TheLovelyRose made a pretty nice review on this one. It’s good but if you want an independent FL she indeed needs to be kinda Mary-sue for the read to be catching.
That's true. I was actually hoping for more of a hardworking FL. I've read a lot of Father-Daughter novels with a hardworking MC and sort of want to see something like that.
For sure no ML but I didnt like this one. It had a good premise and I think the author had a good vision but it was not implemented well. If that make sense? You can try reading it and see if you like it. Definitely no ML
The Villain and Cannon Fodder's Mother this one has an ML, but he is not the typical ML you see in similar novels. He is not the overbearing CEO, rich man, perfect man that all women in the story are willing to kill for. In fact. the plot is focuses more on family growth rather than the romance. No annoying white lotus bitches or young master syndrome male pursuers. It's like My Son Might Be A Villain, but with MC and the children being the stars of the story, a quirky but loving family, no unnecessary entanglements with the MP and FP, and with a more normal but refreshing ML, no ML turning out to be the real father either.
Cool. The family-focus is the main thing for me. While I don't want a ML, I can tolerate them as long as they aren't the generic superstar/CEO ML.
*SPOILERS* I was just reading this and i was enjoying the MC's growth and her interactions with her son and how she wasn't head over heels for the ML. She regarded him as just her son's dad. And I would've loved if it stayed that way. Then all of a sudden she's agreeing to marry him even though she knows she's not in love. Just because he said online she's his wife or something. And I hated the ML and how he only treated his son well to get the M. Like that's not how it's supposed to be. I dropped the novel after they decided to get married. I guess authors worry their novels won't sell well if there's no romance ♀️.
Got any recs on the father-daughter ones? I tried reading some but when I read the spoilers apparently the father dates the daughter ones she grew up... I never YEETED a novel so fast lmao The only one I could think of was "Suddenly a Princess" a novel I haven't read but the manwha I have PS. my bad for kinda jumping on your post OP I'm still interested in some of the recs for it~
Even Though I’m a Former Noble and a Single Mother, My Daughters Are Too Cute and Working as an Adventurer Isn’t Too Much of a Hassle I am surprised that no one recommend it.

Personally, I really enjoyed it and cant stop promoting. It's a very refreshing take on the transmigrating into a villain/cannonfodder trope. but this story is not for everyone cause it doesnt have a lot of drama. It's a light hearted, slice of life, comedy novel. So if you want, you can read the spoilers to see if this novel is for you. Although, i mainly spoiled on the little bits of romantic interactions between the MC and ML because it's just too cute and unique!!
Daughter of the Emperor DEFINITELY. I only read the manhwa & the early chapter's art may not be the best but it's gets better & the story so far pretty good
