Don't know about the fanfiction stuff but i have been watching dragon ball till dragon ball super. The animation was quite good.. and those frames where it looks bad is just used as key animation for fast movement scene... So you won't notice it unless you went out looking for it... and this is quite common in sunrise's studios animation style with gundam and other robot anime by them.
The reason why i like super is just that it feels like old dragonball z but on steroids when it comes to power leveling and the fightings... There is no stopping goku from leveling up his power level to the next stage and its exciting to see he grow stronger along with the other characters and keep fighting non stop.
I mean who gets to see a SSJ go toe to toe with a death god's candidates and one of them that has surpassed his death god and goku himself along with vegeta is on the path to be a candidate. And also the fact that the other characters keep looking down on universe 7... Oh and vegeta became the funny man this series

I actually prefer GT over super. To be honest, GT could have been decent if they did a few tweaks to the poor choices they made here and there (ex of poor choices would be trying to make pan the new bulma and trunks the new yamcha). But super has so much wrong with it I don't know where to start.

I mean GT actually had a plot. It may have been a simple plot that wasn't anything great but a plot never the less. Super has err... waku waku?

GT also has the best episode of all time when they try to threaten vegita to kill goku if he doesn't hand over the money lol. In comparison super completely destroyed Vegita's character. (not that I am a fan of what GT did to Goten who was my favorite character for some weird reason, but as a franchise, destroying vegita as a character was a far worse offense.)

GT also had plenty of decent fighting scenes, as for super, I'm not sure I could name even 3.

Honestly, I think it's down to the person. Some people get very attached to concepts. Even if something is extremely horrible, like "Back to the Future", it was great to them as a child. So, when they see it altered in fanfiction or holes pointed out when the author actually improved the concept, they feel like a bit of themselves was hurt.

There's a lot of disturbing things in that example. I actually didn't give it any thought until I heard a comedian discussing it. It was a movie series I ended up watching at least a dozen times passively because it'd come on in marathons on cable. However, when I heard all those plot holes pointed out, even though I didn't especially "fan" the movie series, I felt I lost something.

Cartoons and Anime are a bit different, though. It touches more on the person's imagination since there aren't "pictures" of real people acting out the scenes. Dragon Ball and Pokemon were my first experience with anime, outside Syfy's anime weekend they use to have in the 90's. Like many, I ate it up, even though there's a lot of things wrong with the plot and how they organized the structure of episodes. It wasn't until I was in my 20's and decided to watch them online that I realized how horrid it was with those fillers. Most of each episode could be broken down into a few minutes of actual plot, less in most cases with Z and GT.

Still, when I decided to read some fanfiction, I didn't like much of anything about it. The executions for a lot were lacking. So, I can see how those who are less honest with themselves could "hate" and "troll" others who use those concepts they were holding dear from their childhoods.

After all, Star Trek and Star Wars are great examples.

Most fans of anything don't care about fanfics of whatever they're a fan of. It's just they don't waste time saying it so you never see it. The ones that do hate it for whatever reason they choose. Maybe they change their minds, maybe they don't. I wouldn't waste time worrying about it.

The more infamous of her theories is that Saiyans get weaker the more transformations they go through even through it goes against all canon and she has no proof. It is easy to see that she made it up in order to clickbait the phrase Super Saiyan Curse in her videos.

Fanfiction is great. It's fans taking characters and stories you love and mixing things up in often wonderful ways. I don't really understand people who decry it as a whole like it's something bad, like it somehow devalues the canon material. That's nuts. ... That said, not really familiar with the person you brought up and don't know what's going on there. Maybe she's legit terrible for some reason. Maybe people are just haters. I won't comment on that. I'm just here to say fanfiction is a good thing.

There are over 800k fanfics for Harry Potter on fanfiction.net alone, and plenty more on other sites. While that series is a remarkable standout in terms of fanfic count, I'd still say it's a pretty good rebuttal to "the western community hates fan fiction". ... Uh, no, quite a lot of people are heavily invested in it, actually. It takes a shocking number of writers and readers to build a community around 800k fanfics, y'know? It's probably hard to seriously comprehend just how much writing that is.

Put another way, our little webnovel loving community here is absolutely NOTHING next to the massive titan that is the western fanfiction community. We are a speck in their vast universe.

I was talking about Japanese fan fiction of Japanese IPs not being translated to the west/receiving love in my reply to the original poster. Sorry that wasn't clear since I didn't clarify. There's massive amounts of it that aren't erotica, but the majority that get translated are erotic manga's. Almost none of the non erotic fanfictions that Japanese write get translated.

There's a ton of Chinese fanfiction of Japanese IPs like Naruto and One Piece, but they mainly get machine 'translations'.

If you want to talk Western IPs, then yes Harry Potter and Supernatural stand out. Though I'd point out that a ton of them are erotica.

Edit: I reread my post and realized what I'd like to say is 'porn drives the internet/world!' Maybe I'm not 100% serious there, but erotica versions and self inserts drive a lot of fan fiction.

I like DB and love reading DB fanfics. Same with other series/novels/anime that I love... I always got think of "what ifs" after end of series and go to fanfiction community to see creative "what ifs"
