Wtf is wrong with male protag of japanese novels? I’m not discriminating but most protag of jp novels are so pathetic. Example:

Kazuki of magika no. I hate his guts. Hate him for being an idiot. His attitude towards his harem. Like wtf, the relationship is there already, wtf are you waiting for. It’s so unrealistic as compare with male protag of chinese novels. Straight forward. Realistic.

Personally I find Chinese male leads completely stupid. They seem like they took the Japanese Herbivore stereotype to the complete opposite by making them unlikable assholes. Not to mention they have like just as much if not more plot armor than JP Mc's

Anyway, why don't you read something more josei oriented instead? I'd recommend you to shift to seinen story, but those usually lack romance. Don't just read those stories oriented for hormonal teenage boys.

 

Japanese MCs tend to be betas, while Chinese MCs are more aggressive and try to be “alpha”, and Korean MCs are all bland and usually boring cuz they’re machine-like.

 

In my mind, china ML is more about face slapping with a cheat and luck. If their dont had that... Only need 3 chapter for them to die. Japan ML, is about follow rule even its mean need to bow at other. Korea ML... Is about find an loophole to win.

Both Chinese Novels or Japanese Novels have good or bad in them...So I think its not right to directly say all the Japanese novels or Chinese novels are same.

I have my personal favourite novels in both Chinese and Japanese.

But I also have most disliked novels in both of them.....

Novels are fiction, they can realistic, wish fulfilling or purely entertainment. For a lot of Japanese light novel it like the average guy (sometimes nice in personality but plain) can get the girls and fulfil a goal - saving another world, or just wanting to make their lives better. In their original world they are just the average guy, here they can be something more. Sometimes it’s a good plot helps the story along.

Chinese male protagonist...more wish fulfilment as hey its fiction so why not go all out. Be confident, mean or ruthless. Nothing wrong, it’s fiction lol. In the end, just drop it if you don’t like it. Sooner or later you find some you do.

I haven’t read any Korean novel so no comment...

 

Most novels suck.

The reasons why one Japanese novel sucks are usually similar to the reasons why other Japanese novels suck, and the same goes for Chinese novels and Korean novels.

The novels that don't suck, since they are already exceptions to the "most novels suck" pattern, usually are exceptions to other patterns as well.

 

One is overly Alpha while the other is overly Beta. Both to the point of cringe and/or disliking their character.

 

Japan used to have many good and interesting light novels and mangas like a half decade ago..

Now it's mostly trashy ones with too much fan service or spineless mcs

Both are ML from JP and CN are dumb
If I pick tbe worst then CN is the most disgusting. I think being dense is much better than rapist. CN women tend to have no character or personality beside being jade. They kept adding harem characters by making the existing ones nonexistent lol.
If you want good harem JP novel Mushoko Tensei will be good. I dropped TDG since it kept adding harem member while the old ones seems to not exist.
