I've found myself recently not getting enough in terms of vegetable intake since I can't really go shopping for myself at the moment. Right now I'm stuck with what I would describe as the icky vegetables. I can eat them, but I usually don't feel too great afterwards since they aren't in a condition I can really appreciate since there is a constant debate as to whether or not they are expired or not. I guess the point I'm trying to get to is what exactly should I be trying to eat in terms of vegetables? What part of eating vegetables is supposed to help they body? What vegetables do you usually go to to eat?
haa? vegetables is good for digestion~ it also source of vitamins and minerals~ isn't that da basic? this cat dislike paria unless it fry with egg, papaya leaf unless it fry with egg, spinach, banana blossom, bamboo sprout, broccoli, raw tomato hmm dunno what else~ what this cat eat? any vegetables available~
xD What are the icky veggies? Hmm, the past few months, my weekly grocery list (2 adults) would have: 1 large pack of fresh greens mix 1 smaller pack of arugula/spinach 1 pack of baby carrots (good for snacks and can also be used for cooking) 2-3 onions (or 1 large bag for 2 weeks) 1 pack of mini tomatoes 1 celery stalk (might last more than 1 week) 1 microwavable bag of broccoli florets 1 napa cabbage or regular cabbage (lasts more than 1 week) 1 pack of sweet mini peppers (lasts more than 1 week) 1 bunch of green scallions 1 pack of firm tofu Then, some other fresh more seasonal produce like avocados, cucumbers, bok choi, daikon radish, sweet potato or other things I might need for a specific recipe I want to try. I recently bought some shelled frozen edamame and it was pretty good. Frozen mushrooms are also good to keep for sauces and soup. I always keep fresh garlic and ginger in the fridge too. I've been making my own kimchi lately so we usually have a small plate every meal. Good probiotics for the gut! So far, a large batch has been lasting 2-3 months and I even share a bit with the next-door neighbours. They're growing and sharing some herbs in the backyard like thyme, fennel, mint, rosemary, parsley, so I can always go there and grab some for seasoning. Lately, another neighbour has distributed a bit of his summer produce since apparently he has a large garden. We got a few eggplants and a huge Italian squash. For shelf-stable stuff, I keep 2 cans of beans (garbanzo/cannellini), 1 bag of dry lentils and a couple of diced tomatoes cans. I have some dry seaweed (Kelp, wakame and nori) too. I also keep a bag of shelled hemp seeds and salted roasted pumpkin seeds to add as salad toppings!
Come to India the heaven for vegetarians. We have tasty spicy and mild and all kinds of flavour in foooood, we make your salad yummy sabji . Okay enough of advertising about india But genuinely though yes I do because my mom makes tasty food~
If your veggies are constantly expiring on you maybe try buying frozen veggies .-. According to research, they're just as nutritious as fresh veggies. Also they last longer since they're frozen.
I just steam or boil cabbage or bokchoy, and eat it as is. Sometimes peas, and carrots. I like them coz' you don't have to do anything, just clean them.
Vegetables are good for you. They give you fibre that help you poop. XD They are also very tasty when prepared right and have lots of mineral and vitamins goodness. Some vegetables that we eat are actually fruit, for example tomatoes and cucumbers and zucchini and eggplant. Vegetables is best eaten al dente or well washed and raw. If you boil them, all the goodness is in the water so you might as well drink the water than eat the boiled vegetable.
I like most greens and other vegetables but I find it hard to eat tomatoes and eggplants. I avoid them as much as possible
What is it with people not liking tomato? I understand eggplants but tomato? Is it the texture? Taste wise, I think tomato taste great compared to eggplants.
I don't know about other people but in the past tomato tasted like the intense acid liquid that comes up from your stomach when vomiting to me. It's not as bad as before but still don't like them. The more delicious people say it is, like perfectly ripe cherry tomatoes, the worse the taste is for me. I could eat the super bland tomatoes if I put lots of salt on it, but eating was endurance not enjoyment. The texture and the rest is fine. I really love the look and smell of tomatoes even. It's probably an issue of taste buds. And this is for raw. I can eat thoroughly cooked tomatoes without problem.
