Who is the ML? Hope it isn't the Emperor...he deserves Madame Guillotine

 

Given who the author is, I'm not too hopeful. She also wrote Lady to Queen, and according to the reviews, it's written in a similar fashion.

It will turn out the ML was misunderstood and the mistress orchestrated everything

MC will forget her revenge and fall in love wiht ML

People will complain about the ML being shitty and MC is so weak for falling for him

Other people will say that you've got to read the story before complaning as the MLs actions are justified and he actaully develops


Then another group will tell everyone to stop shitting the thread as it's a spoiler thread not a discussion thread

Well, similar fashion in writing style not ending, as apparently, she DID get some form of revenge. Though if the reviews are to be believed, it felt forced and unsatisfying because of the contrived plot, naivety of characters, and unrealistic and immature politicking.

do you mean naivety? or do you really mean nativity because both are plausible when it comes to this kind of novels so...

 

It was rated 2.7 out of 5 on Ridibooks. Granted, I found Korean readers to be far harsher than the readers here but still.


I was referring to naivety but apparently there are parts that dealt with that part of politics but my Korean is not good enough to ensure that, so take that with a brick of salt.

 

I fully know this thread. Lol Anyway, it would be nice for her to just get her revenge and never look back. Heartless? Perhaps. A new take on revenge because of betrayal/misunderstandings? Yes!

 

Eeeeh, I wouldn't exactly call that a new take. There are already tons of revenge style novels floating around on novelupdates. Also, if she were to get revenge but it turns out what scorned her was a total misunderstanding wouldn't it make the MC look worse in the long run then?

 

I am waiting for more translated chapters before going into this. I could barely find spoilers. LOL

 

But has there ever been a Korean novel where the MC took revenge on the wrong person ? Usally in novels if the MC is taking revenge on a person you cant bet your dollar that the person is satan's incarnate. I mean I dont wanna diss anyone but it really seems like Korean authors want there MCs to always be in the right and justified in there actions no shades of grey allowed(but to be fair that's in some western novels too, but not the the extent of K-novels)

I'd be surprised if she does take revenge on the emperor and it turns out he was innocent. Would be a new take and can really explore the idea of hasty revenge and misjudging people.

 

That's the answer right there. Don't you think it's refreshing for MC looking worse in the long run because MC refuses to acknowledge other people's reasonings? By refusing, they basically ended up being blind because of revenge. Normally, they slowly realize that it was all misunderstandings, then get happy endings without the retribution of what they have done out of revenge. It's a given though that we likely sympathize with MC despite the awful things they have done because we are biased due to their POV.

Ooooh I get it you mean a story where the MC is supposed to be in the wrong. Yeah yeah I actually think that would be fascinating!
