If you have the power to erase your own memories, shady people will kidnap you and dissect/make you a test subject to figure out the mechnism behind it for their shady purpose.

My first thought was no since it would keep people from learning from their past. Then I remembered all those times I would wake up from pure cringe because I remembered some small things I accidentally did that still haunt me years later while I'm falling asleep. Those things were all tiny like accidentally saying good morning to a person walking by when it was nearing night time that don't teach me anything, I have no idea why they haunt my mind.

Personally that is a good idea, you read spoilers so that you know the story wouldn't blueball you at the end, while erasing the spoilers but keeping the idea of the story being good for you will be nice.

Imagine having a shitty life and erasing all the bad memories, then being tricked into thinking your life is amazing.

We just have to learn how to forget things. It will come natural once we are old people who could barely walk for shits.

nope, but it can erase insecurities or anxiety that you feel in the past
THEN!!! replace it with the new insecurities and anxiety for the present!!!!

so, no...the thing that change is probably how you see the world or your surrounding. you'll forget your mother's harsh words, you'll forget how much trash you are, you'll forget your incapabilities...

if the people around you are kind enough to guide you and help you, then it's your fortune...if not, then it'll be much worst.
so, it can be either a sad one or even a happy one...so it's a gamble.

What was it.... Traumatic Amnesia ?

Idk the name.. but there are cases where people totally can't recollect certain instances in past, even if shown video proof.
