I just wanted to know which parts and scenes do you like the most and which the least about the Novels you read. For a better understanding I will rank my own so feel free to comment on it and give your own opinion as well.

    1. World Building: Probably the most interesting part for me. A good and interesting world is the foundation for a good novel.
    2. Side characters: As long as they're not cheerleaders for the MC they can be pretty interesting. If they have their own interesting and plausible characters they can take the main stage easily. Sadly they often get downgraded to one-dimensional allies or villians.
    3. Fight scenes: Always fun to read, especially after a long build-up.
    4. MC: I don't know why but I think that the MC is too often annoying beacuse they follow some kind of trope. For example being dumb, naive, arrogant, childish etc. It's rare to see one that is as interesting as he/she should be but if he is then he shines above everyting else.
    5. Training: Yea the training sequences can get tedious. Reading chapter for chapter just for some kind of level up without anything else happening is often too hard to write in an appealing way.
    6. Food: I don't get why it even exits. Full sites of food explanations without adding anything to the story. Sometimes they feel like food nationalism and tbh I always skip them.

Likes: dao comprehension, sudden enlightenment, training arcs (esp. when they produce visible results), face-slapping (in moderation)

Dislikes: speciesism, tournament arcs (esp. when they become repetitive), auctions, harem encounters, food making/appreciation, arcs focusing on alchemy/array/etc, face-slapping (excess)

EDIT: There's a lot more more, but I'll leave it at that.

I like the initial discovery and exploration in the stories. Learning about the mechanics of the game elements or skills, ie what can it do, then extrapolating and innovating new techniques. Learning about their local environment and its people, then learning about the greater world. Going to new places.

I enjoy the fight scenes especially when the mc uses a powerful move for the first time successfully

World-Building: I mainly read isekai's and a good isekai pretty much starts with world-building and a bad one usually has bad world-building too. I define good and bad by my personal satisfaction after reading the story or its part though, so it's a very arbitrary rule I wrote.

Morals and culture: Technically a part of the world-building part, but I still want to point it out. A good isekai will not feel forced when describing its morals and culture, at least not too much. They will have at least some degree of justification for why this and that are well-known or poorly-known and why people behave the way they do. Also, I believe that "culture" involves things like food, science and education. For some reason, the authors don't have the balls (figurately ofc lol) to make the isekai have their own advanced food culture and more advanced technology and science(or its equivalents) than Earth. It's as if Earth would be anywhere near the top in terms of technological and scientific advancements if other worlds with sentient beings existed(lol). It always bugs me when, say, a Japanese salaryman introduces miso made with ingredients that the inhabitants would be able to procure by themselves and it spreads like wildfire in a dry forest, while it's always a welcome thing for me to see the stories where the mc doesn't know how to cook and eats and finds the local food delicious or when the mc introduces the food from Earth and it's not at all popular(which I have yet to see) Though ofc it extends on the non-isekai stories too

Romance: a good romance can make me ignore many flaws in the story while a bad (usually forced one that came out of nowhere) can make me drop the story faster than a flash of light despite how good a story may be otherwise.

The mc: how an interesting mc with an opinion of their own and a solid as concrete world-view with experiences to back his arguments up as well as interesting goals can make a story better is of no need to be mentioned, the same way as how a hypocrite mc with only superficial levels of knowledge and a weak world view that could only be described as mediocre at best as well as a completely not understandable feeling of self-worth or lack of any self-respect can ruin the story is obvious. The most baffling part of how they behave is the strange moral high ground they usually take, instead of trying to actually understand the problem. The setting is in a different world, with a different history and circumstances, not a net forum threat. Well, it's not necessarily an isekai, but the mc is important regardless.

The antagonists: Bad villains: I do bad things because... You won't understand me so I won't explain! Hmph! Good villain: I do "bad" things because (proceeds to make a convincing case, though may seem morally twisted at times but not necessarily) Best villain: I don't do bad things, (proceeds to convince you and is actually either successful or makes you think really hard or shows an interesting world-view like the Joker from the Dark Knight trilogy or, say, Junko Enoshima from the danganronpa series) Your average web-novel villain: I am right and that's all (acts generally infantile and is clearly the cannon fodder to pad the word count type to be resolved without any suspense)

Plot: By plot I also will mean the way a problem is resolved in the story, so even the slice-of-life genre stories count. Some degree of foreshadowing always makes the resolvent of a problem that much more interesting. If the problem is resolved with a plot device out of nowhere it is only natural to expect a certain degree of dissatisfaction, even in comedic stories. By plot I will also mean the way a story progresses. But it's getting too long now so I will stop here.

I really like training/power-up arcs, the arc right after the training/power-up arc where the MC shows off the result of their training is the most satisfying part to read...

World building & character interactions are probably what is enough to make a novel for me, of course character interactions should include consistency and the likes, because damn I really hate inconsistent characters

I really like parts after the training since the MC would be stronger and the slaps would be harder or maybe treasure hunting cuz you know who doesnt like reading about treasures. I also like parts when MC encounter dangerous situations and then be injured. like really injured. *hides* please dont judge me.

For all that I like about grand ideas and intricate world building and elaborate plans, I find that when I go back to reread specific passages/chapters in a book, I tend to look for the smaller moments. Usually these are the conversations between characters or key moments where the major characters reveal what they're about. On the other hand, I'm a lot pickier about fight scenes and I find that most of them aren't even particularly worth reading the first.time around. Then again, I do read a lot of really poorly written books so that may just be my fault.

Properly written food porn can be incredibly fun to read. Look at something like "Transmigrator vs. Reincarnator" - if it weren't chock full of food porn then it wouldn't have very much else going for it. But to do this properly, the writer has to put in some real effort and actually include details about how the food is made and, most importantly, why it should matter in the story. The alternate way to do it is to include all sorts of exotic or unusual foods but unless they're tackled in detail, it can only be used to accentuate the rest of the story.

A lot of the stories out there (including the majority of Japanese web novels) don't want to put in that much effort so they end up feeling ineffectual and pointless. So as usual, read better books and this will be less of a problem!

Plot and character growth - story plot, story development, plot twist. In short, all kind of things regarding story plot. It doesn't need to be extraordinary. A simple plot with interesting development and character growth always the best to me.
I like the kind of story that drops little hints/details/problems which make you wonder for their meaning, and when the story goes on and all the problems are solved logically, you'll go like "OMFG it's all make sense!! AAAAAA"

hence this cat not really mind other aspect as long as this cat not feel bored~ you see da more ya know da more you feel copy paste... unless it type of story you like to read~ yeah you can learn new thing if you can filter so much filth to see the really good side but this cat is lazy~
2d, lack of deep, nonsense plot, plotholes, character, interaction meh not care~ this cat not on thinking mode when reading story~ only when this cat want to analyze via discussion this cat will do so~
parody is da best cuz it make fun of thing this cat know~

    How free it is.

I like how ridiculous and coolly fantastical it can sometimes get, tho emphasis on sometimes bc maaannyyyy authors go overboard lmao. I’m quite an open minded person and can take and will like a story as Long as it ain’t obviously repetitive and the characters don’t do dumb retarded shit cuz then it’ll just be retarded, not unrealistic

World building, especially those who are really skilled at stringing words to make you really imagine and feel like you're seeing the world with your own eyes. I also like seeing the characters grow and conduct some face slapping that will always make me laugh and feel justice is being served.

It all depends on the novel...
    1. World building
    2. Revenge....when it comes to that part, That’s the greatest part of all.
    3. MC takes it all at the end.
