Background: our MC was captured and tied, he waits his captors to sleep to conjure (from "Item Box") a sword that can cut the ropes, and will summon a familiar to use the sword and cut the ropes.

What is wrong with that?

 

Slimes have no eyes, and no hands.

And as you well know, all Isekai Japanese MC’s are contractually obligated to have ONLY slimes as summons. Or Fenrir, or dragon. None of the have hands either.

i hope you dont mean that it is cause his hand is tied back but started tied front. the captor could have it changed in the panel delay. (for whatever reason)
at first i thought he was cutting his feet with the sword. but i guess the item position is ahead of him, to his left.
dunno whats wrong.

granted, if it was me, i would just add the rope in the magical inventory. maybe the mc really wants to cut rope

He has item box. The rope is on him. He can use item box with his mind without interaction. He can just put the rope inside the box and he is free to go.

 

Why didn’t he conjure them to defeat the captors so he would never get caught?

 

your monster needs to be humanoid to handle a sword. lizardman maybe?

 

I get it, but I think it depends on how item boxes work in the universe. Can you take off your clothes directly into the item box? If that's true then putting rope into it is trivial.

 

Hahaha there are so many steps involved just to get free. Yeah, why not summon the rope into the box? Are there rules of ownership blocking him since the rope isn’t “his?”

And if he can summon monsters too, why not pick one to cut its ropes for him, or even “kidnap” him from the cave and run off with him far away?

Why does he have to summon a sword AND a monster? There’s no one to show off to here, tch.

 

Everything. The fact that he didn't just put the rope in the item box. The fact that he has a cheat skill that was conveniently ignored because he's just an extra dude caught in an isekai. The fact that it is an isekai. The fact that it is a boring slice of life OP MC isekai, etc. Isekai was a mistake.

Author probably just wanted to show off the new summon with the utility because its a new skill rather than applying the skill that everyone knows can work more efficiently for the same purpose.

I usually treat these kinds of manga like junkfood. You don't look too closely at the contents and sorta grab it by a handful.

 

Welp, although I would usually agree with you about this. These slimes might be able to use the sword.

Why bother to recall a sword then summon a familiar to cut the ropes? The rope will be a bonus.

 

As I understand his item box, he first has to select the slot from his item control screen before he can store it. With his hands tied, he really can't do that.

Otoh, to remove items he probably just has to visualize it.
