Discussion What is your discussion topic when dating

So you just don't speak?

 

But why can’t you just talk about everyday type of thing? Or at least start with it and if the person is also into you the conversation will continue... I used to have three hour long conversations with my ex on the phone... it was literally about anything... cars, dogs, new bakery creation, what he had for lunch, what did our siblings do, what his or mine boss did, that annoying neighbor... the topics of conversation were really endless...

to be honest I used to do my nails while he would go off in another rant and just say yes yes from time to time... most likely there was more than one reason why we broke up... hmmm

but doesn't at some times you will feel bored by doing the same thing all the time?

 

Funnily enough it took a while to get bored. Either it was due to “in love” chemicals or the topics of conversation were switched really fast. I tend to go off tangent when talking to people (get distracted easily)... so at the time I wasn’t bored. Especially on the phone (my nails take a really long time to file). When talking In person , of course, it is important to pay attention and keep eye contact (where applicable).

 

the west or the east type of dating you wanna know?

 

The conversation I had with the last person I considered dating was a round robin conversation about politics, religion, racism, suicide, abortion, and a few other normally unacceptable taboo topics. If just flowed so organically it was scary. Sadly she was heavily interested in medical and criminal drama shows and had zero interest in gaming, manga, light novels and anime.

So, just take some common ground in topic and you are guaranteed a blast?

Why tf it seems to hard to apply in RL though?

 

There were other issues, like she was a chain smoker and a borderline hypochondriac. She also talked... alot. I quite smoking years ago and cant stand the smell, I could deal with the hypochondria, but I was mentally exhausted after talking to her for more then an hour.

Either you lead her to tell you her story or interest or you have her listen to your story or interest. The main point is you spent your time trying to get to know each other.

What if she doesn't interested in my topic? do I shut up? change topic or let her talk instead?

 

It would be small talk gradually entering big discussions. Gotta set a boundary first, since it's a fake date after all. I mean who talks about serious stuff when you're suppose to find time enjoying each other? It's not a tryst or marriage candidate outing.

 

What is considered as a small talk?

something like "today weather is great, isn't it?" or anything else?

 

no male cats take fancy to this lazy as* so i wouldn't know....

IMO when people start to date they usually tend to feel each other out by discussing different hobbies and interests esp if they haven't know each other for too long. so if they're ever talking it could be eg during a meal like what kind of pizza toppings they like/hate or if watching a movie may discuss characters/plot and other movies they've previously watched....i have no experience but i think thats how a conversation would flow....

 

Yes i wrote as such. Either you lead her into disclosure or you disclose your own bits of personal interest or information.
