A certain idiotic review rate "The Second Coming Of Gluttony" as 1 star with 100+ LIKES based on his idiot points that could easily be refuted if he read the novel properly in the first place... Screenshot_2020-07-24-20-34-40-11.png

Here are some important stuff that you should remember:

    • Earthlings view Paradise as a game
    • Earthlings won't die on earth when they die in Paradise
    • The situation in Paradise was actually the worse, they were fighting a losing war.
    • There are three main faction, The beastmen Alliance with the World Tree and spirits, The Humans and Earthlings with the Seven Gods, and the Parasite with the Parasite Queen.

    • Altought both the earthling and the beastmen alliances have one true enemy which is the Parasites, they arent actually in the same team for certain reasons...
Regarding the usefulness of the Gods, first, its the old generic cliche that Gods can't interfere with the mortal realm, they would suffer a rebound if forcefully done, 2nd point, the remaining Gods that was fighting back are just some minor gods, they arent really incharge of paradise, heck they were even named on the Seven Deadly Sins (Gluttony, Wrath, Lust, etc) so they barely have any followers, they would perish without that other faction against the parasites...

Inhuman treatment to earthings? First, they wont really die on earth when they die on paradise and even their memories would be erased regarding what happens in that place so screw the human rights, Second, they dont actually treat everyone as junk and disposable, if you have a talent and good/rare job, you wont become a s*ave, you can have a good income and countless great offer.

But if you were deemed as useless with no future, they wouldn't hesitate to use you as a meatshield and disposable troop. It's simple, Paradise is a warzone and if you dont have any use, you are no different from a baggage, its even better for you to simply die and just forget about paradise than be a burden.

    The lack of entertainment?

Here's the thing, imagine being invited to test a virtual reality game where you could pretty much do anythung you want while you try to beat the main quest? Do you think earthling would properly do the main quest to finish the game?

Some maybe, but most people would simply not, especially when they didnt have the capabilities to do so in the first place, if you can't finish the main quest?

You would have fun, forget your morals or dignity, its just a game afterall,

it wouldn't affect your life in earth, if you want to drown yourself to lust? Its just a game so go, you want to do drugs?fighting life or death battle one after another?
    Its just a game,
its not real so feel free to do so.
    Thats the point...

And nope, its not Chinese nor American novel but a korean one actually...

Regarding the mc doing a 180 degree in his personality, he actually dont, he simply return to his usual personality because he discarded his addiction to gambling. Without his addiction, he was just a childish dude on his 20s. Screenshot_2020-07-24-20-35-31-54.png
And then again, another idiotic point because he didn't bother to read the novel in the first place... Beside his above average fighting capabilities, the only thing he did at level 1 was to warn others, gave some advice, and only run. He barely fough because he was actually weak to a truly strong enemy. All he did was run, using a certain rare artifact from the Great empire that collapsed in the past, that could boost his speed to unimaginable level. Its perfectly logical, sure he got lucky but his speed didn't come out of nowhere or from the power of friendship, he obtained it from his previous expedition...he was the only one who have both the speed and the determination to risk his life to be a bait to his own plan...

So can you guys put another review that would counter his rant because its really such a waste if people dont read the novel because of his rant that didn't actually make sense...

I laughed so hard when they asked if it wasn’t an American novel XD. Mah dood, none of the novels you can find here on this site are American. Literally none of them. If they are, they aren’t supposed to be here. This site is for translated (mostly asian) novels. At least that was the admin’s stance ages ago. He’s clearly American himself if he thinks Seol Jihu is an American. Not everyone is an American protagonist.
On the other hand, his post was almost a year ago in 2019 so not much we can do about that.
On the other hand, regarding his actual points, I feel some of them are valid (earlier chapters were very different to the recent chapters and some points were indeed suspect). The others were... well just dumb and showed a clear lack of further thoughts.

Whilst most of that review is bullshit, I’m not a massive fan and think that novel is overhyped. MC is a guy whose turn from a gambling addict scum to super Mary Sue is fast enough to give me whiplash.

It seems no one can ever succeed without the MC and humans are mostly scum as is usual in every Korean fic. Also all these actually capable characters all always have a good impression of the MC. The gods are knobbled but even if they can’t help a lot with powers they can at least help identify the scum (in their church and otherwise). It also feels author has nerfed Earth humans majorly tech wise. It says electronics don’t work and can’t be brought across but there’s plenty of other tech that can be implemented in Paradise. Hell the enemies and federation are even shown to be using guns or gun analogues. No proper explanation why normal enterprising humans aren’t trying to munchkin their way around the rules either.

Anyways whilst the story is not bad, it’s not as amazing the general reviews portray.

Dude might have exaggerated but he’s not far off. Why did future Seoul become who he was? Because he was misused and mistreated. No saying you can’t make a good story in an illogical world but it is what it is. Also the longer you are in paradise, the more likely you commit suicide after dying. That’s sound like you do die in paradise. I read the story and enjoy but I’m not delusional about the bad parts of the story

But it's logically consistent though.. Future seol was treated like shit because of his average talent, he didn't show an explosive growth, he was just one of the many warrior earthling. And it was related to that, earthling who is below lvl 4 are treated as consumable because they haven't stay long enough in paradise or they were simply useless with no future improvements. There is a certain risk but newbies wouldn't really suffer that much from the rebound of dying. And actually, people who came to paradrise through contracts have no life on earth or desperate one who needs money to the point that they would sell theirselves.

I thought this would be a rant about the novel, and not a rant about a review of the novel. Anyway, you could hate his post as much as you want but it's technically the truth. No matter how much reasoning you give to the shitty world building, the idea of liking Paradise is unlikely. It's just a den of criminals along with the pitiful locals who basically can't do shit. You only like it because you're reading it from the perspective of the strong.

I mean c'mon aside from the tutorial arc everything else is just passable. Seol is either running, or being possessed by his future self. I really enjoyed training montages and him getting strong, but the it's hard to like it anymore when he could just become lvl 8 all of a sudden and get away with everything.

Because Paradise is currently a WARZONE? Seriously, there is no such a thing as human rights in a medivial world during war.And they are that desperate that they would accept a bunch of criminals to their manpower because they are literally on the brink of destruction. I dont really know whats so hard to understand. What would a country with a lacking of manpower do during a war? They would constrip their citizen regarding their will. It's not the average isekai where the demon king and the 4 heavenly kings wait in their castle to be raided by the hero. Liking a warzone like Paradise is very unlikely in the first place, and someone who would volunteer to fight a war of a foreign land is even more rare. So using compasion and love for their land as a cause isnt really gonna work. Earthling doesnt need to like paradise, they simply need to do their job as a soldier. Yes a job, because they are getting a compensation to do it.

that doesn't change the fact that people would want to live nor defend that place, which is the main point of the review. Also not everyone is as well compensated as the MC, and majority of them are under a slave contract. Which bring us back to nobody wants to live in Paradise. Even if they're cunning enough to make by, those people won't sacrifice themselves so that other Earthlings could continue living from their sacrifice.

And thats why only the desperate one or people who have no life nor future on earth are being contracted, only people at the bottom of society. The biggest example was future seol, he was a gambler, he recieved thousands of money as a down payment, and he agrees, after that, he suffered as a slave in paradise because he had average talent with a common class as a warrior. And i already said, no one is crazy enough that would want to live in paradise because it was a WARZONE! A warzone doesn't need another inhabitant but a soldier. And the Gods themselves aren't the inherently good ones too.. The seaven dead sins having compasion and morals? They didn't do those stuff for the goodness of everyone but for survival. You see, they never expected earthlings to help them out of their goodwill, they are expected to do their job because they are being paid to do so. Earthlings have their own reason to go to paradise, someone simply dont have a place to start, other were desperate for a quick buck, somone looking for a cure for their loveone, the gods didn't really care as long as they do their job as a soldier.

The thing is nobody is doing that, as you can see the main groups in Paradise are criminal organizations. They all do things for profit, and not out of doing jobs rather they abuse the locals and other Earthlings. Which lead us back to nobody wants to save Paradise. Besides you're talking about doing things to level up. However, most people aren't there to level up but to make money. They could make money by being criminals, they could level up by contributing to Paradise's salvation. This further proves the point that the gods are useless along with the region's nobles. The only singularity was Seol, who magically changed for the better with no rhyme or reason, and also on the review.
