Would you rather movies come out in theatres or that they come out on a streaming platform instead?

Basically it's watch at home vs watch at the theatres.

I haven't gone out to watch a movie in years. My TV has been unplugged for years even though I've been paying for video as part of my "triple play" Fios package. I mostly just use YouTube to play music and check out a few youtubers I subscribe to.

My opinion has always been even before wuflu Why pay 30$+ to go to a theater when you can just wait a few weeks/months to buy it for like 20$ or watch it on a streaming service already probably pay for

I really don't care either way, i feel for theaters around the world closing down or are going to be bankrupt. I like watching movies in the theaters, and I like watching movies at home... so really moot point for me.

I like going to the theaters, cause I have a short attention span and being in the theaters makes me able to focus on the movie more.

I can’t say I like one more or less, they’re just different experiences, home feels comfy and quiet while going to watch a movie with friends is more exciting and outgoing, it depends on my mood and what I’m watching

Back in the day you anticipated a 'release' more and then made an event out of watching it. Now you get thrown to death with a list of things you still 'need to watch' and it's more a grind to keep up and less of an impression that'll last a long time.
I still remember TMNT and similar movies at the theatres, even pokemon the movie.
Haven't really resonated with a streaming movie all that much except for like The Joker with mr. phoenix. (then again i was slipping into depression at the time, so it's kind of a try to suit your mood instead of creating the moment like we used to.)

Going to the theater with Mr. Hamster feels more like a date. Plus, I enjoy the previews. Plus, I’d only just found out I like icees before the theater closed, and the theater’s the only place to get them. Plus, the seats in our theater are the super cushy ones. Plus, the theater sells pocky, granted very limited in flavor pocky, but pocky. Plus, you know, the screen’s bigger. Plus, I’ve seen videos showing that streaming is less expensive, but honestly, for just the two of us, the theater is cheaper than streaming a brand new movie.

I usually only see 1 - 2 movies in the theater every year. Sometimes I go longer than a year without going to the theatre.

All your stream are belong to me.

Going to cinema is a event to enjoy and support the film if you want to enjoy the movie on small screen(which I usually do) you are not fully supporting the film. I'm sad as another great Indian actor died due to us not supporting him(Ssr) suicide.

In my area, ICEEs have always been available at every bodega and other convenience stores, like for decades. I even see them in my local suburban supermarket now.

I read that interests in Drive Thru theaters were making a temporary comeback due to covid's social separation requirements.

Yeah, but, the closest convenience store is 20 minutes away. I’m not going all the way just for an icee. And I don’t really see them in convenience stores around here anyway.

I have actually never been to a theater in my life. They just seem...kinda pointless to me.

Idgaf about most movies but Heaven's Feel has to be watched in theatres. Watching it on a small screen is simply underwhelming.

My living room is basically set up as a theatre so it’s fine either way for me. But I do enjoy the theatre “experience”. The smell of popcorn. The hustle and bustle at the concessions as you hope the people in front of you hurry tf up so you don’t miss any good previews. Picking the PERFECT seats. Discussing the movie with random strangers in the bathroom afterwards lol. So yeah, I’m gonna lean towards going out to the theatre.
