This is getting ridiculous. Personally I’d say “screw you”. Than take all the businesses from Banta City and move them to his Falling Rain Valley. Than blacklist that city. I would show them how weak a merchant is. Let’s see how they do with an economic warfare. I would raise the tolls of every road. All the machines in his city will no longer get any parts to repair any machine. I would undercut all trade. Even if I loose a fortune in the process. I will grind the living hell out of them.
They want to make this personal. Ok. Let’s see who scream first.

 

Ou MC is highly non-confrontational... I think in certain ways the author is doing "China vs. Western Countries".

You know what. It’s not enough to crush him. He needs to realize that he is not worthy to be called a noble either. I would transform the MC valley into the greatest city in the world. I would show the world not to underestimate me.

 

So I guess no one can interfere with MC land except the King. So he could do whatever he wanted.

Bud, as I said before. I would prove to the world why you don’t mess with Isekai person. I think it’s a great time for trains and trucks to appear. I would go around Banta City and isolate them from all commerce. I would place stores right outside Banta City territory. Along every road or trail. That way not only tolls for using the roads, but I would buy and sell with the traders even before they reach the city.
I’d choke the city dry and watch it crumble. That’s what I would do.

Your right. Still that a$$hole deserve it. Maybe relocate the population. Everyone keeps on saying they need more labor. Than again some people won’t move no matter what you offer.
I guess I wish the MC would stand up and take a stand against corruption. Instead of taking it in the face.

What I’m trying to figure out is why the MC is still being subservient to LCL “lord city lord”. I’d be like you dug yourself a hole. Go live in it.

 

You know it would solve so many problems if the MC would just introduce railroads and trains.

 

Two things:

1. princess is forcing herself onto Xu Yi. By spending the night in the Xu manor without Wife#1 around she can claim "fait acomplit" and force marriage ("you have to take responsability")

2. author-sensei is forcing the chinese/japanese/oriental way of dealing with foreceful people: let them be, until they can't be. Liking it or not, Xu Yi is a noble and needs to left open doors for himself and for others too. Even that noble youngster that got a loooooong rope from Xu Yi is not a declared enemy, and is in the pocket of Xu Yi. In some ways, Xu Yi is really evil.

 

I think he first will make use of the rivers. Railroads are a good way to kill a lot of iron (it's there, forever dead on the tracks).

 

Yeah, it would cost s@#t load of resources. Especially iron, but it would solve the distance problem. Besides if they drop the rail gage they could cut a significant amount of resources, but it would work.
Maybe something like this...



It wouldn’t be my first choice, but the needs must when the devil drives.

 

As to river passage. Your still regulated to water access and may not be to convenient for certain kingdoms. Especially if you have to build canals all over. That could take years or more.
I like tracks because it’s easier to lay down. All you need is a tons of gravel, wood and iron. The only thing that could slow you down is iron, but really in a pinch they could use wood rails. Still with the knowledge and experience. The MC should be able to build another steel factory dedicated to rails for the tracks and make all he needs without interference of normal operations.
I’m still thinking Trains is the way to go.
