Since the donghua aired last Sunday... Tianbao Fuyao Lu 天宝伏妖录 Author: Fei Tian Ye Xiang Translators: Moon, Joyce (Chrysanthemum Garden) Genre: Historical fantasy, Action, Adventure, Comedy, Xuanhuan, Yaoi Novelupdates Raws Summary: From the end of the horizon, a phoenix led millions of birds in flight. Behind it, a sky filled with billowing clouds that looked like a sea of flames skimmed over Chang’an. A golden-winged roc perched loftily atop the roof of the Xingqing Palace. In its eyes was reflected the splendor of the common people who lived in this Divine Land. In silence, dynasties rose and fell, and the tides ebbed and flowed. Li Jinglong dragged along his wound-riddled body. From the palm of his hand, a brilliant light shone as he relentlessly drew closer to Hongjun. “The living… are merely passing travelers…” His deep voice resounded through the depths of the world, as the black fog that covered the sky and blanketed the earth receded before that light. “The dead… return to their eternal homes (t/n: the earth, upon burial).” That light was the blazing sun that illuminated the heavens and the earth. It was the light of the stars that twinkled in the night sky. It was an everlasting Heart Lamp that pierced through the darkness. “The heavens and the earth are… an inn; for all our grief we inevitably return… to dust.” Li Jinglong closed his eyes, placing one hand on Hongjun’s forehead. The white light dispersed, illuminating the mountains of corpses and rivers of blood that filled the battlefield. In the shadows cast by the light of that lamp, the memories came: the flamboyant debauchery in Pingkang Li, the parasol tree in the Exorcism Department bathing in the light of the summer sun, the swirling sand and fluttering snow of Saiwai, the clear, spring-like sound of A-Tai’s song, the new green leaves that Mo Rigen and Lu Xu picked, the flying brushstrokes of Qiu Yongsi’s pen, which evolved into immortal verses that graced Li Bai’s cup — A young nobleman strolled through the Eastern Market of Chang’an, Enjoying the breeze as he rode his white horse on a silver saddle. After admiring the falling flowers, where does he like to go? He smiles as he enters a Hu-run wine shop. Anyone finished it yet? I've only gotten to chapter 111, and it's just such a dense read where things go at a rapid fire pace I could barely recall general chapter ranges where certain things happen, which is something I usually am capable of with most novels...
Omg thank you! Finally a spoiler thread for this! I would love to know about the wolf x deer couple. Do they get a happy ending?
OOOO... Sounds good, thank you. Can I ship Chong Ming and Qing Xiong or are the blood related brothers
They do, I'm pretty sure?? I haven't finished properly myself, though, so I don't remember exactly what happens to them jrkhltsjehs But they come out to the end!! Lu Xu is sort of Lu Ying's reincarnation...? Actually it's a bit of a discussion in the fandom itself; in Dinghai Lu Ying says that he doesn't reincarnate, he passes down his powers, but there are aspects of events that comes off as sounding very much like reincarnations... In short, though, Lu Xu has Lu Ying's powers. She has some "side" role in how the more historical aspects play out...? Like the fact that it was her comments that Li Jinglong got the Exorcist Department, and she shows up a couple of times later too and has plot relevance. Spoiler A nine tailed fox is sealed inside her by Kong Xuan, I think. The song's actually a real poem/ancient song! It's called Song of the Yue Boatmen, and you can find a translation on the wikipedia page. The context for that video is that Spoiler it's the song Li Jinglong sang for Hongjun when publicly confessing to him. Yes, the entirety of the Exorcist Dept. watched. EDIT: this is the translation, thanks Elestrea! ZHANGSHI "Say you like me, Hongjun. The two of us/we will be together. From now on, you won't leave me. And I also won't leave you!" HONGJUN "I..." ZHANGSHI "Hongjun. I'll sing a song for you to hear." Middle part HONGJUN "I'm going to move, later, can we meet again?" ZHANGSHI "We can, I'll wait for you." "I know that you'll return to Chang'an later." HONGJUN "Maybe I won't be coming back." "That yao is gonna eat me one day." ZHANGSHI "Don't be afraid, I'll protect you." Edit 2: added more parts of the tl ALSO I HOPE PEOPLE WATCH THE DONGHUA AND/OR READ THE MANHUA they're both free to watch and read!!! One is even on Youtube!! sorry just had to drop that PSA
@namio I would like to know how the relationship between MC and ML develops? Also who is the MC and the ML?? Please. Thanks you
Omooo.. I'm kinda happy about Lu Ying.. will other characters have their cameo on this? And how many side couples will we get?
MC is Kong Hongjun, ML is Li Jinglong, they start out kinda... hmm, I wouldn't say typical, but rather "idealistic"...? Jinglong was the superior officer (Zhangshi) of the exorcist department and basically is pretty damn OP because he's really smart, though he has a really bad luck and nobody likes him. Hongjun was like... Disney princess finally getting to leave the mountain and see the human world; really naive and not the smartest. But Jinglong was pretty soon partial to and nurtures and takes care of Hongjun, and up to the middle of the novel it almost seems like that's it for their couple development? But then plot implodes and Jinglong basically ends up needing to rely on Hongjun and Hongjun steps up and is now learning and growing into his own spot and supporting Jinglong the same way the man have been all this time. By the end of it they're just... they both have grown a lot. They'd do anything for each other. Lu Ying himself doesn't have cameo, but his "reincarnation" of course has his own Cang Lang/Gray Wolf with him I don't know if you're reading ahead the Dinghai TL but if you haven't, hehe, original Langlu are just... the sweetest... the AD has a small dialogue that's supposed to be Bai Lu and Cang Lang talking about where they'll reincarnate and I like to think it's Lu Ying and the wolf god still just in love after another 400 years Side couple, we get to see a rather large one in the Total Disaster langlu... there's one minor straight one. Only 2 really got any proper spotlight though. The story is really plot heavy.
Omg I'm so happy when I wake up first thing in the morning and reading this.. huhu ALL HAIL FEITIAN AAAAAHHH
Do you have anything you want to know in specific? Also veihakase jccsbksvj A MOOD, I love cang lang and bai lu so much... also Lu Ying got his extras with the release of the Dinghai 3rd volume
