The new joke rule link: https://www.reddit.com/r/Animemes/comments/i2mn3g/rule_5_update_as_of_today_the_word_trap_is_now/ Article: https://nyannet.com/reddits-r-anime...ap-and-receives-torrential-waves-of-backlash/ Welp the sub is now flooded with memes that involves the word Trap.
I am curious if TRAP is an actual JP slang in the anime community. I don't see politics, I see culture clashing with culture.
No offense, and while I am not into traps but that reason the mods gave is hilarious they really need to come up with better explanations
The japanese term is otokonoko which is read the same as the the word for young boy (男の子) but written as 男の娘 where the last kanji means daughter.
it just..... I've heard that there's alot of 'White hat' and not much of 'Black Hat' as a certain forum for anime-meme right?
Never heard someone use the word Trap as a slur, this is just stupid at this point. Why would it even be a slur in the first place
Probably, I always just ignored trap material but never thought the word trap was being used as a slur... It always seemed more of a compliment.
So close to being political, Honestly I felt the origins and popularity of the term was to make organizing and finding trap fetishes easier.
I think the best post so far is this one: https://www.reddit.com/r/Animemes/comments/i3kqjx/i_dont_mean_to_hurt_the_mods_feelings_its_just_a/ OP gave the mods a reasoned, thought-out logic slap. I've seen a few comments just randomly browsing posts where even trans people are like "what?' and wonder how they concluded it was a slur. Someone actually made a meme mocking r/animemes mods for getting political with this decision in violation of their own anti-politics rule. A lot of people on the sub-reddit are pointing out that femboy can be more of a slur than trap.
Personally never thought that trap was a slur... isn't a slur a slur if it's used by people trying to insult? I don't really recall people mainly using the word trap with the intent to harm. It's like the word otaku in a way. It can be used with the intent to harm, but more often than not, I don't really think it is used to harm. Ah, well. Was never really into traps, or femboys, or whatever the term is going to be to describe boys that looks like girls. Personally, I feel like the word femboys is a lot more slur-like, though? Anyways, reddit's anime community is mostly for people from the west. Europeans, Americans. If they find it a slur, well, let them do their shit.
not to out myself or anything but how am I sposed to find quality Trap memes if they just up and banhammer the whole ass term!?
this why japan hates porting their entertainment out of japan. too many western pussies SJW bullshit traps aren't even transgender nor is it a slur and just like I said on reddit anyone who is offended online is a joke. this one more move to attack anime and give politicians more ammo to censor and eliminate it from being sold in North America and other countries. it only took one Karen in Australia and amazon removed a shit ton of novels because she said these novels promote child exploitation a lot of horse shit.
Time to ask the reddit mods to ban otaku as it is used to insult us the otakus (if it isnt already banned , I haven't used reddit and so no clue on that)
Making the mods feel miserable... That is one huge backslash EDIT:: Meanwhile in other subs if you like anime, manga, novels etc. you'll most likely made fun of or downright shamed for doing so the mods in the animememe sub are being self-righteous hypocrites. They didn't discussed it with the actual meme sub but other communities in boom surprise ban.
