Is it wrong to gain pleasure from translating suffering?

I gain an unhealthy amount of motivation to continue translating whenever I start to translate my characters' suffering or when they're in a horror scenario. My morals is telling me this is wrong, my body accelerates my heartbeats and sends chemical transmissions that gives me anxiety, but my brain, it tells me to keep on translating. I don't know if it is because I'm extremely into my novel or it's just be being a schadenfreude.

One of the best joys from fiction is indulging in and exploring concepts we may not be comfortable with. Many people have many draws in fiction, so if seeing characters struggle is one of yours, then good for you! There's nothing wrong with it.

Stan Lee once said that Spider-Man was his favorite character (OR among his favorites)...and spidey is one of the Marvel characters that suffers the most in the marvel verse, granted he is the only one that saw the true one above all( AKA real God of the marvel universe)......buuuut he also made his girlfriend get cancer from their sexual relationship, so yeah thats a thing......

Is it wrong to enjoy reading about a character's suffering? Is it wrong to stop along a roadside to watch a train wreck?

Everyone has their guilty pleasures. Most people enjoy some form of the above in their lives at one point or another.

It's fine I think? I mean, gaining pleasure from seeing something you make is a fantastic thing. It's only normal.

haha, I can just imagine you blushing, grinning, typing ungodly fast, and hunched over your computer. Much like how I read fluff in pubic (minus the typing fast). All in all, I think it's fine, I would say just enjoy yourself. :blobuwu:
