instead so saying okay I say ogay, or text it. like I just text weirdly in general, I text words the way they sound when you pronounce them, like for a period of time I texted yellow instead of hello, but it's texting so it shouldn't really matter bc it doesn't have to be formal yk?

and recently I've been told that its extremely insensitive to say ogay so I switched to mhm and ok or k.

I've stopped using it as much, but I still don't understand to why it would be insensitive. help?

Ogay sounds like you’re saying “oh that’s gay” in text form. Lots of peeps use shorthand while texting.

Also, the k in okay is pronounced. If you’re saying okay like “ogay” you’re pronouncing it wrong.

Oh kuh ayy but fast enough that it’s two syllables

I have never seen anyone use "ogay," and I think it is the same for others, so people may not get what you mean. In fact, they may think you are just taking jabs at gay people.

    For example:
Say a friend asks you to do something for them.
    You then reply with "ogay."
If they know you well, they might understand the inside joke and not think about it too much. If they don't, there's a chance they might understand it as "Oh, that's gay."

At least, that's how I interpreted the situation. Some are fine with using "gay" casually, but others are less comfortable with it. People in the middle may accept others saying it but not say it themselves.

EDIT: Person above apparently agrees, so pat on the back for me I guess :blobpats:

Yeah I did something similar, I would spell "yo" as "yoh" I know radical isn't it. I stopped after my friend asked if I was trying to talk like a pirate.

"ogay" dosn't sound nor is it pronounced as "okay" :blobsweat_2:
But maybe because "ogay" sounds a bit like or rather maybe some might pronounce it as "o gay" which is maybe insensitive :hmm::blobunsure:

I also say 'ogay' when speaking, but I wouldn't use it to text.
When speaking, it can be understood due to context and occassion, but anything can be taken out of context while texting. :sweating_profusely:

To me it looks like a typo for “ugay” or “u gay”

I think a vtuber(the japanese ones) pronounce okay wrong and people imitated her, she got really upset about it thus it being insensitive.
    That's my theory though.

I think it depends on who you're texting like the people above have said
