Mhm, basically that's the gist of it but if you want to know more then think of Kizuna Ai-chan that uploads a variety of stuffs like playing games, collabs, comedy vids, music, and so much more. Ah, Pekora one of the VTubers that made me fall into this rabbit hole.
no one can escape v-tubers hole hololive is a v-tubers [1] agency, an "idol" group that use anime avatar to do "idol" things like singing (cover or original song), playing games, etc. basically just like another youtubers group hololive (and other v-tubers group like nijisanji, vivid, etc) mostly use 2D Live technology to "animate" their avatar acording to their facial expression. for example when they speak, a camera will track their mouth movement and move their 2d avatar mouth to a preconfigured movement. there are also several buttons that they can press to change their avatar expression to a specific preset (angry, sad, etc) other v-tubers also use 3d model as their avatar, which is far more expensive and difficult to setup, thus there are not many of them (for example kizuna ai, kaguya luna, tokino sora, sakura miko, roboco, etc). some 2d v-tubers also got 3d models too [2], just recently Ars Almal just got her 3d model (which is very very cute). they can also got "updated" 2d avatar, this month alone many hololive early member got their new 2d avatar (fubuki, matsuri, akirose, haato, etc) just a warning, if you want to explore these v-tubers, be prepared to have your entire youtube frontpage to be changed to v-tubers only related videos, and you might not be able to escape this hole and become a simp note: [1] v-tubers are not japanesse only youtubers, there are others v-tubers from another country too (Chinesse, Indonesia, etc), there are even a v-tubers that is a half Japanese and (forgot USA or others European countries), but debut in indonesia (hana machia) [2] some people said that a certain idol 3d models is still 2d
well motion capture technology indeed~ from movie to mmd to live concert (irc something like western miku counterpart that can dance singing on live concert or something) and now youtuber~ nah unless the topic meet this cat interest for now there low chance meet hololive only see once on topic relate to video game~ maybe on future when such tech more affordable, cheaper, easier to access other genre will use it~ although kinda doubtful channel about history, politic, horror and info graphic will use that format~ high chance are anime, games, gossip or something like that
