Looks like trailer-trash english, mixed with illieteracy and stupid. Took me a while to decipher it cuz unfortunately the content did not immediately compute.

Official Western anime streaming places are washing anime with censoring. Coincidentally, japanese studios have come together to create a youtube channel to stream anime legally. so folks are considering this as a slap in the face for western streaming sites.

If you ask me, this is more of a deathblow to anime piracy, as stricter piracy laws are coming in from January. This channel is the first step for low cost legal anime streaming.

this is step in the right direction, but i can't imagine youtube permiting the rape in globin slayer episode 1 without at least demonetizing the video, but let's wait and see what youtube does about rape, nudity, fanservice and gore, will the lightbeams strike again, will curse words be censored?

Don't mention that... I'm not over Kissanime being shut down two days ago, and thinking that more free streaming sites could be shut down soon makes my heart shake in fear.

This channel was released well-before the ban. The ban on kiss... Well, I am not too concerned. I stopped visiting it after a feud with the mods... I am much more pissed about the ban on nyaa. It was just a torrent place!!

Well...most of us foreign people came to know about anime from those pirate sites and now, Japan is closing that door.
Personally I have no problems with it. The recent animes have lost their originality and full of same of cliché plots. So, I will feel no pain in ending my anime watching career in the future.
The Japanese can keep their spineless nice guy protagonists, and their perverted inchest loving ideas to themselves.

To be honest, I'm ok paying 50 euros or so a year for a good commercial service.

At least then I know that the service they offer isn't (or shouldn't) be riddled with viruses and malware.

However, the current commercial practices with the excess censorship, annoyingly limited regional availability, and even poorly working online services are a real annoyance.

Still, I use commercial services... and drop all series that aren't entertaining in the offered form.

I believe it's not that westerners themselves want anime censored, but country legislations and big SJW corporations want it... and Japan isn't any better in that sense imo.

The fact legal method sucks are the reason sites like those still thrive better than the legal publishers.

^this. also, that western licensees are starting to really bend to SJWs and woke (which is really starting to piss off the japanese).

I dont think this is the death knell for anime piracy. the legal proper way is still too broken and half-assed to reach that point. Hell, music piracy still exists as people just get music now from youtube if they dont want to bother with the legal streaming services or pirating is the only way to get the songs.

If they really want to curtail it, hosting shit on youtube (thus being subject to all of youtube's rules and restrictions) isnt the best way to go about it. They'd be better off having an independent site built up to release subbed anime without censoring or any other shit.

Don't confuse legal issues with SJWs going ham. Most female anime characters are not legal in any country (putting it mildly) and plenty of animes are trying to get to the infamous "might as well be hentai" precipice (And cross the 18+ border in the US). If you want to see ass and tits, try 4D.

If anime goes the paid subscription route I'll probably stop watching it altogether. I've already gotten pretty jaded on anime as well and haven't watched anything beyond the first episode or two of each series for a few years now. In fact many times I can't even make it through an entire episode and end up dropping it early.

Not quite right though. While i'm vehemently against lolicon, i think to actually try and prosecute over anything except legit lolicon (and not just 'teenage' which is what most anime characters would class as) would likely be nigh-on impossible because any good lawyer would be able to argue their way out of it, especially in the US, unless the laws were draconian in scope. I believe the proviso is that it must not be based on any real children.
Even lolicon, detestable though it may be, would be hard to prosecute successfully. I think i remember one case in the US where lolicon was prosecuted successfully but that was a charge(s) lumped in to increase punishment because the guy also had child porn and that's what they originally caught him on. Of course, there may have been legit cases that didnt get tacked on to more serious charges but i;ve never heard of any.
Despite the braying of moron politicians who wouldnt know their ass from a donkey, completely fictionally created stuff (no matter how creepy as hell) is unlikely to be seriously prosecuted unless either laws are seriously tightened to a draconian level (not an easy feat) or the justice system starts going overboard with stretching the bounds of existing laws.

What is legal isn't even the main issue. You realize that the degenerates watching that kind of anime are an extreme fringe? The US has been censoring far less "debatable" content for a decade now. Far before your "politicians who would not know their ass from a donkey" showed up. The assymetric shift certainly is amusing to watch in action.
