So, I've been getting into reading manga again and I'm a sucker for fantasy and even more for isekai fantasy. Despite there being so many fantasy/isekai manga out there, most of their art style is pretty bad (to my eye at least). I don't really have requirements for the plot other than there should be some overarching storyline that requires the mc to get stronger or learn things (so no "I became a cook in another world!" SoL business). Oh, and a male mc is preferred. No yaoi.

What I'm looking for is good art, though I find it hard to describe what looks good to me. I guess clear lines, detailed backgrounds, relatively "realistic" body proportions (but not as realistic as Vagabond for example) and a good handle on perspective.

Examples of manga with good art (in my opinion)
    • Berserk
    • Dungeon Meshi
    • Ningen Fushin no Boukenshatachi ga Sekai o Sukuu Youdesu
    • Volcanic age
    • Solo leveling
    • Chronicles of Heavenly Demon
    • Goblin Slayer
    • A Returner's Magic Should Be Special (a bit more unique but I like it)
    • Star Martial God Technique
    • Tales of Demons and Gods
    • Her summon
    Thanks

One Punch Man art by Yuusuke Murata. You'll love the background details (y)

I've read the slime one (really liked it) and I did glance at the sword manga at some point but I didn't care much for a sword mc. Since you say it's good I will give it a try again.

Your recommendation perfectly matches my requirements. yet I have tried reading this but wasn't much of a fan. Will give it a try again.

When it comes to good art and detailed backgrounds I think most of the manga made by CLAMP are wonderful. [One of the more famous series you may have heard of is Cardcaptor Sakura.]

However some series tend to have a little unrealistic proportions like extra long legs as an art style. (Like in xxxHolic. Though the clothing designs are absolutely gorgeous.)

I would recommend Tsubasa Chronicles for the story.

I gotta say, some of their stories require a second read-through in order to fully understand the plot. Still, I love it because most of the stories are a long running series (which means lots of chapters yay!) and most of all, I love the art.

From the pictures you posted and some quick searching I did, we have a mutual understanding that the art made by CLAMP is well drawn but I just can't bring myself to like their style. Thanks for the recommendations.

Peerless dad is actually something I've had on my list for a while but I've never started it because I've thought of it as a slice of life manhwa. Is it not?
I checked out some random chapter of Magic Emperor and would consider it's art barely passable and not very consistent. Weirdly, some scenes look really good and others just very basic manhua style. I will give it a try.
    Thanks.

I'm more into story i/o arts, but maybe something like:
    Youjo Senki
    Flying Witch
    Hakumei to Mikochi
    Punderworld (webtoon)

And if you don't mind non-fantasy ones: Otoyomegatari & Amanchu

I read this when there were only 4 chapters translated and I'm waiting for more to pile up. Pretty cool and unique art.

I've read this and think that the art is above average but nothing special. It's not very detailed and doesn't feel "fluid".

I wonder how this has escaped my radar since I often read from leviatan scans. Art looks good. I will give this a try.

I have tried Youjo Senki and wasn't a big fan. Flying Witch seems good going by the art style. May not be my type of story but I will give it a go. Hakumei to Mikochi seems to be well drawn but not in a style I prefer.

Otoyomegatari is something I've been planning on reading for a while now. Amanchu I may check out at some point. It seems to have an anime also.

    Thank you.

Peerless dad has a lot of slice of life elements in it but it's still a martial arts novel at the core
Magic emperor some panels have really good artwork and also the style is very distinct and different

Also try reading Uzumaki it's more about how the art is used rather than the style of the artwork itself

I'd say Pandora Hearts. It has really good art that is gradually improving until the end. Plot is pretty superb too.
