Ive been feeling into male antihero protagonists recently, fire away your recommendations. Mainly looking for japanese translated novels w 100+ chapters, maybe something like summoned by the demon lord or betrayed by his companions. I've seen Nidome no Yuusha already btw
The Shield Hero is a good one, there is also a manga, wich I really recommend~ Also Kumo Desu ga, Nani ka? (This one is a female protagonist but just to say) They can be pretty good . . Finally, if you wanna try a classic, Warlock of the Magus World is just great
'Tate no Yuusha' did have a good start as an Anti-Hero novel... its development is questioning thought. 'Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken' (the Webnovel) does have more Anti-hero vibes than the LN. There is 'The Experimental Log of the Crazy Lich', which I really liked. But that one is a Korean novel. My current favourite is a cultivation novel, 'My disciplines are all villains'. But it's getting repetitive, as so do all cultivation novels.
I know you said mainly JP but you should really check our Reverend Insanity. This takes antihero to a whole new level
Arifureta The Death Mage Who Doesn’t Want a Fourth Time Garbage Brave: Isekai Ni Shoukan Sare Suterareta Yuusha No Fukushuu Monogatari (LN) I Became the Strongest With The Failure Frame【Abnormal State Skill】As I Devastated Everything Ankoku Kishi Monogatari ~Yuusha wo Taosu Tameni Maou ni Shoukansaremashita~ I’m the Evil Lord of an Intergalactic Empire! - at least he thinks so...
Antihero protagonist??? I think any Harem + Rape + Smut + Polygamy + Hero novel will make any monogamist and feminist will label the novel and especially the MC as superbad Antihero It was joking
quite enjoyed Ankoku Kishi Monogatari, its concept anyway and i remember reading Arifureta about a year or so ago and i really enjoyed how it started off. Pity it turned into a regular isekai after that and i almost lost complete interest in it lmao
Actually not really... it has been so long since I've read that one. Reading so much must have shaken up my memories. I guess I read it at the time where I was into Dungeon Novel and those were mostly Korean so I messed it up. Thanks for pointing it out.
Well antihero genre has very less quality novels. There are only two novels that i can safely say are Anti-hero other novels mostly they have hypocrite who is super evil but thinks of himself as buddha. Yes even the novel op mentioned Nidome no yusha mc isnt really anti hero he is just anti hero wannabe. Futhermore the novel itself is average at best. Jap novels are filled with so much cliche that cant help but puke blood everytime i try it. They are unreadable. Come to the dark side (CN) with these novel 1. Reverend Insanity. (CN) Evil mc not anti hero 2. Warlock of the Magus World.(CN) Anti-hero mc + most practical mc ever. 3. Way of the Devil. (CN) Anti-hero 4. Carefree Path of Dreams. (CN) Anti-hero 5. Mystical Journey. (CN) Anti-hero 6. Nightmare's call. (CN) Anti-hero 7. Ouroborous records circus of obeniel. (JP) Evil mc
https://www.novelupdates.com/series/dungeon-defense/ Ok, it's Korean, but the style doesn't really fit any of the country styles and is kinda it's own thing. For me it did a good job of having a antihero that was evil, but not so selfish it was off-putting. Ymmv https://www.novelupdates.com/series/atelier-tanaka/ Not really an antihero so much a a destruction of how if you actually isekied a stereotypical JP protagonist and gave them a cheat the result would not be very heroic. https://www.novelupdates.com/series/fff-class-trashero/ Kinda silly honestly
