Most of what everyone else has been saying, but also the overly grandiose naming sense, especially in the titles that seem to have nothing to do with the character at all.

When talking about real figures, historical novels will usually use the actual numbers. That said, using numbers figuratively is a common element of the Chinese language in general so you're going to see them to a degree just anywhere. For example, a phrase like "ten thousand zhang cliff" can be used to describe something very high up. But a zhang is about 3.5m, so the literal meaning would mean that it's 35km high! It's best to think of these expression the same way as you think of similies in English (strong as an ox, fast as lightning).

I guess it would be a good example of how not everything should be translated literally for it to make sense.
Unless there are notes explaining it anyway.

There are two general ways to translate: translating sentences or translating individual words. The latter is easier to do; especially if you're using MTL, but it's often a mistake for Chinese to English translations.

..then you write a list, but it gets mistaken for the real thing and becomes a popular xianxia story.

In more medieval times where aristocracy was common, and hot weapons were not around or in their infancy such things as a family being wiped out is more common then you might think. When an noble/lord dies, there is a power vacuum and other nobles will try to gain some benefit from it, direct competitors will in many times annex everything that others had, this tends to lead to killing of an entire family, cant leave any possible heirs that can raise a flag of revenge to recapture things lost otherwise it might be their family that is killed off. Aristocracy is full of scary people and situations. Same people who smile in your face will stab you in the back then slaughter your family. Hate to think how the women of those defeated families were treated.

How do you even filter for some of those things? Tags don't always work and reviews are unreliable.

Cookie cutter enemies, repetitive developments, tropey harem members, and a world above the world above the world above the world above the world above the world above the world above the world above the world where the MC starts in that is much stronger than the previous one so all the developments can be recycled.
