Meh, I don't know if I've ever cared that much. I mean it was cool when shows like Static Shock and Boondocks were on but it's not like there's some craving. Honestly it would probably be annoying if a bunch of Japanese people start creating a bunch of black protagonist. They'd probably call it anime blackface. The character being male is enough for me.

Plus I kind of disdain the practice of trying to force other people to protest or whatever for you. Like demanding companies pull out of countries because you(who are completely uninvolved) don't like how their country does things.

U say u want more representation in anime and that you'll take it into your own hands, but ask people who have lots of money to open up animation studios to make it for you instead????

It's probably best to curb the fixation on "western anime" and become a content creator yourself. Not only is animation extremely expensive, it's hard, it's a niche skillset and it's extremely time consuming. People with money will rarely invest in something that has no proof or potential of success.

If you want animation with more representation that is anime-inspired, create a story. Make that story gain traction with lots of fans. Get the attention of some high ranking member of a media company who will see the cash potential in your story, and pitch a show idea.

If you want something to happen that badly then you can't just ask for handouts. Do what you said and take it into your own hands. And also like you said, don't just wait for others to make it for you.

Don't demand "diversity". It's the reason why we get shitty entertainment. If forced diversity is your goal instead of an engaging story where diversity happens organically, it's going to be hated instead of praised.

Why would you want anime, manga and light novels to bend to your will? Isn't appreciating the culture where it came from what a "new ager" is supposed to be?

 

Jpn and CN novels aren't the best place to look for diversity..... Most of the time the foreigners are blond and have blue eyes... In general most people in Western countries have brown hair and brown eyes.
