Discussion Did you guys actually use Novelupdates?

To check novels people recommend or novels that interest me, yes. For the "updates" part, no. I use it more as an index or library these days, been a year or so since I used it for updates.

 

I use it mainly to find new novels, keep a track of where I’ve read up to and to leave notes on novels~

 

I'm on it almost all the time. I use my laptop for almost everything in my daily life so I always have one tab devoted to NU open at all times so I can check in on it when I'm bored.

 

I do and it is called the Forum section of the site.

 

I still check NU everyday
I only just recently picked up quite a few new novels so I still have a reason to go there

 

Tbh when reading the original post of this thread, i was thinking, if i don't refresh NU every 10 mins what am I even doing in my life?

I don't really use social media (facebook, twitter, Instagram, snapchat, etc) much anymore. In fact i rarely used them now. For communication I only use WhatsApp or just call someone directly, or better yet, through Discord.

Even when I am gaming, i still have this habit of refreshing NU on my phone to see if there's any update of any novel in my bookmarked list.

For me, its not even ritual anymore, its an obligation for me to use NU as I should be. Refreshing NU pages feels like as natural as breathing for me.

If i i can't refresh NU, I can't breath either.

Of course, I still read novels listed in NU, because its more convenient than checking all the websites one by one. I don't know about you, but for me there's still lots of interesting novels that I missed to read in this novel.

yes, only read one or two or three while skimming around~ thats how this cat know about BL raising, kr shoujo or villain or duke bombardment~ also search some story then binge mtl~

 

maybe 1 every 1-2 weeks theres almost nothing i like reading anymore most are dropped or are behind paywalls or ask you to get a account to read not gonna happen

 

I check the forums a few times a day, though I mostly stick to the NU category.
I visit the website mostly just to back up my replies in there.
I don't really read the release feed, though I do glance at the first page occasionally.
I haven't really updated my reading list since NU started hiding all walled chapters - I'm mostly reading WW's novels and if I forget to update the list for completed novels, they get hidden and I can't do it anymore. And I don't feel like using a manual list instead.
The only novel that I did update recently is LMS, when I caught up to the end of vol 55, after a few year's break.
Basically all other updates to my list over the past 3 years were me clicking "update to latest" by mistake on the walled series which moved me from like 50-100% of the story to the first 100ch or so... :|
But I do check the novel's page for series I'm considering on starting + a few weeks ago I checked most of WW's titles to see how close to the completion they were - so I can potentially catch up before they get walled.

 

I always using novelupdates except for this last two months because I got stuck in some manhwa(s) :<
But I still peeking now and then for the new updates. (•w•|
And now because of the manhwa(s) my stock pile novels got another mountain of novels

 

I check daily.

 

Every day I check the latest updates of my favorite novels on my NU Reading List. I hardly ever make use of bookmarks on novel websites, like wuxiaworld or qidian webnovel. On the other hand, I rarely open NU forums.

 

Sometimes when I read a manhwa, I'll try to find the webnovel. If I find its translated webnovel, I will definitely add the novel to my NU reading list even if I don't read it (only read the manhwa).

 

Not very often, it mostly depends on how much I feel in the need to.

Overall I check the forum mostly, in that I can find the latest chapter discussions I was lookin' for.

 

I use it every day. At least once a day. Usually in the evening, since I like reading before bed.

 

I still visit every now and then. I have too many things to focus on, that I can't keep track of novels I like consistently.

Every day. If I see a new novel, I quickly sort it into my category separated reading (and drop) lists, which are hidden from the main page. Meanwhile, I MTL a novel at a time and watch my lists grow endlessly...
