Normally, I really don't like "Dark" MCs.
Mostly because they tend to be selfish douches who come off as a 12 year old pretending to be "Wise and Edgy".

But I've recently found Supreme Magus, and I'm honestly surprised. The author did a great job at portraying a broken, cynical man who's been kicked down by life at very chance. And when that man finally gets a bit of power and control to actually chose his fate, he doesn't do so because its "smart" or thinks he's some BA who should rule the world. He does it because He feels like the only one he can trust is himself. That the world is cold and heartless, and If he wants to get out of what he was, he needs to fight for it tooth and nail.

MY question, is does he rather learn to grow and heal from these scars? Not forgetting the lessons they taught him, but not letting them control him like they do at the start of the Story, either.

Or does he kinda of just remain this cynical, brooding dude for most of it?

I've never read that novel, but considering the lack of the 'harem' tag, I highly doubt it's going to have a polygamy ending.

 

Its wish-fulfillment crap, I am not disparaging it but expect a harem.
Authors of such novels need to please all readers so they get the protagonist to hook up with all women.

There is another original novel called dark sword or something in which he has darkness attribute and has sex with new women in new locations

Short answer - Kinda...
Long answer - He does grow and learn to rely and trust on other people. Although the list of such people is very short at the moment, I believe things will change later on in the story.
As for healing from his past trauma, I don't think he's there yet. I haven't read the latest 50 or so chapters, but personally, I think it will not happen anytime soon.

He kind of fixes some things but still has ways to go and what happens in the future is completely unclear.
I'm pretty sure author would like for things to stay where they are. The fact that mc is constantly a little broken allows sometimes to fill a few paragraphs talking about his condition or use it in the convenient moments.
It's hard to keep up the pace with the new chapters and always write something unique.

What you've read, is what everyone else read. So far he's still the same cynical man with trust issues. Also the author has some personal problems so we won't find out any sooner, the novel has been on hiatus for a while now.
