Bookmark what? Threads? It's called "Watch Thread" at the upper right, above the first post.

If you're talking about series, clicking any of the boxes next to the chapters listed on its page will add the series to your reading list, with said chapter marked as the latest chapter you read.

Yeah I have the same question.
I don't see any boxes next to the listed chapters
There are buttons on top of the chapter list and when you hover the first one it says something like "This is not in your reading list" but how do I place it in my reading list?

It might be helpful if you screenshot what you're seeing.

You can also add things to reading lists via the tab at the top of the series page though.

Ok so I think I found it
you probably don't have your reading list enabled
to do this you have to go to your profile and click the word "Link" beside "Reading list"
Then click the highlighted "reading list" on the next page
Then go up to the top right that says "General settings"
    And click "Enable reading list"

Don't you think bookmark should just be enabled by default when you sign-up

The option on the screenshot is on a novel's page itself, not on your reading list on the main page.
You need to be logged in. Logging in on the forums no longer logs you onto the website, I think.

On your reading list make sure to enable reading list and quick add in global settings:

And on each of your reading list you want to fully function, make sure to uncheck disable reading list (in list settings):
