I have been holding of on byuing the game for a few months now. The main reason being that i hoped the heated debate on whether it was shit or perfect would die down, and calmer heads would release their honest takes. None of that has happened. It seems to me that you either fucking love it, or just outright despise it. And both sides, for some odd reason, seem to have turned it into some odd sjw vs neckbeards debate. So, i want an honest opinion. Did you like the game?
Graphics - Great Gameplay - Meh Story - subpar is being generous Characters - unlikeable and stupidified
Well, on top of the fact that the workers while making the game were overworked and underpaid, the story is pretty bad. The forced sex scene, the pretty random (not saying this to offend anyone) Ellie is lesbian and her girlfriend is somehow pregnant, the destruction of any semblance of the characters that we loved in the first game, as well as the weird twist and edgy change in the characters is just like why. Also the gameplay has not changed very much since the first game cause it feels like they pasted the game in the same old engine and made it slightly higher res. Overall the game is like whatever if you want to play the old game with different characters, but I wouldn’t recommend spending your money on that

If you want to actually play, then it's not the game for you. I heard it was more like a boring attempt of making a story-based game. Though, never played it nor am I planning to.
If you want to buy it, buy a second hand one. I hear that 80% of people who bought physical copies wanted to return them but the shops won't accept.

I watched a streamer play through and he liked it, all tho he did specify it was the gameplay. I do believe this was known since the last of us 1 dlc days? Personally I think it could have helped quite a bit if we had more of the abbie part earlier, as it would help us get attached to the ppl that we knew we killed of later, before we killed. (did I manage to make this make sense?)
Long time streamers seem to enjoy watching Abbie die more than everything else in this game. Some were even heart broken when Spoiler: Ending Ellie let her go in the end.
Honestly i haven't played it so take my word with a grain of salt. The last of us 1 was great, not because of the gameplay or the graphics even though it's super decent. What made it great was the story and the characters. The last of us 2 on the other hand has decent gameplay and graphics but! the from what i can gather and my own opinion the story isn't particularly great. Its a below average story compared to the first last of us it's terrible. Tl DR If play for the story skip this game, the game has decent gameplay and graphics though.
The gameplay from the first wasn't good imo. I primarily played it for the story. So, old gameplay and graphics isn't a huge problem for me. I guess i am just gonna have to wait for a sale, and just play Cyberpunk and Destiny 2 instea
