Looking for recommendations on more darker music. Not songs where you can't understand the lyrics because they are screaming it, and a bit more slower tempo. I kind of want inspiration on what I would like and dislike in songs I've not listened to before. So, I mainly listen to pop or rock but I'm thinking of writing a song for my bucket list (despite being busy writing, making a game, working part time, reading too many trash novels, and playing too much Warships). Negatives - haven't raised my voice to sing since before puberty 30+ years ago - negative musical talent, last time I played an instrument was grade 8 Positives - fairly sure of the rough feel I want, kind of a mix of Evanescence's My Immortal, The Stupendium's Shelter from the Storm(chorus), Coldplay's Viva la Vida - lyrics are somewhat based on a game, basically the inheritors of an ancient destroyed empire not happy with fighting every day because their ancestors were greedy
Ashes of Dream - Nier Replicant Soundtrack Weight of The World - Nier Automata OST 0.Vers - Aldnoah Zero Ost

Nier automata and gestalt/replicant ost: -mourning -voice of no return -faltering prayer - ashes of dreams - shadowlord - a beautiful song - Vague hope (spring/cold rain) - kaine/salvation -wretched weaponry (medium dynamic) -grandma (gestalt/replicant version) - song of the ancient - blu-bird - weight of the world Dragon age ost like echanters or grey warden? And lullaby of woe from the Witcher
I'd say pull out the modern classics like Disturbed or Drowning pool, or go really old school with folks like the doors. You could also go with guys like Hollywood Undead, though I've noticed lately some of the more pop crap is really getting dark the last decade, or at least as long as NU has been around lol
I've watched samples roughly up to here (except @Kalto super long list). I've liked a few songs that don't quite fit what I'm looking for but I still want to hear again. Thanks! I'd say @Galooza recommendation Falling In Reverse - "The Drug In Me Is Reimagined" is that closest to what I'm picturing, but the first piano in the 2 hour song collection is more in the key I'm thinking of. I appreciate all the replies, except the mention of the Doors (I really dislike that era).
I do too, but you did say dark lol, and honestly they are dark ... and kind a creepy when you get stuck having to listen to them for hours ... now I think it may have been an early use of sonic torture ....
It's cool, I liked your Disturbed and Drowning Pool recommendation though they are more metal than I'm looking for in this song. I realized years ago I kind of hated most(maybe not all though) of the Doors after a coworker would only play them during drives between job locations. Years later I realized I also really dislike guitar solos which were so popular in that era. Piano solos for some reason don't make me as annoyed and more often I enjoy them. I've tried to figure out why, and the closest is that I've come is that guitar solos feel more like ego trips or "look mom I have hands and can move them fast" or something.
