Preferences: - No harems. - Sensible Protagonist - No futuristic setting. I rarely see a futuristic novel that is written well, so I tend to avoid them. - Male Protagonist (I don't like reading about protagonists with the same gender as me, the stuff they do hits too close to home, lol) - Also preferably no love interest, but I can live with it.
I would like to recommend Forty Milleniums of Cultivation, even with the sci-fi setting. It’s pretty damn good and really comes into itself after a few hundred chapters. It’s definitely not like the standard power fantasy face-slapping cultivation novel, and has more philosophical elements with a greater focus on the plot than the MC’s cultivation. The MC is hot blooded, but also cunning and he matures.
Reverend Insanity is one with an evil protagonist doing everything for the unattainable dream of Eternal Life, at least partly because Spoiler: Light spoiler he enjoys the struggle for it. A more standard one is History’s Strongest Senior Brother. Basically it’s a double transmigration, first to a cultivation civilisation at its peak where he learns a bunch of techniques and experiences the apocalypse and then again to a recovering mortal world after the apocalypse as a ‘young master’
Oh that one was pretty good. I felt like the mc turned into a musclehead at one point though, which was when I dropped it. Good recommendation though.
Which point are you referring to? I’ve read quite a bit, but left it aside for a while. Edit:He kind of has a habit of disguising himself, so it would probably pass
I read Reverend Insanity a few years ago. Maybe I'm complaining too much, but it was a bit of a drag for some chapters. I was also disappointed because I read a different novel under the same name, and what I got was definitely not what I was looking for. I'll give it a look over though, since it seems pretty decent. Second one sounds great. I read a couple chapters before forgetting about it, but I remember it being a good novel.
Legend of the Great Saint is pretty good. But, well though he has logic and common sense I wouldn’t call him sensible and I’m not sure whether or not it’ll become a harem later
Yeah... he’s kinda like that for the first major arc. If you decide to continue reading, I’d recommend skimming or skipping till he gets better
This Young Master isn't Not Cannon Fodder (in RoyalRoad & ScribbleHub). Checks all your boxes so far. Main character is Xi Tianyi, who reincarnated as a young master of one of the biggest sects around. He gets involved with all sorts of people he swears fit "MC-molds", sometimes helping them, sometimes going against them because they tried to attack him, etc. Most important one is one who is connected to Xi Tianyi's "father" and may become his biggest enemy / ally / both. No romance so far. His junior sister Jiang Daoyi is there, but there has only been friendship with her as of this moment. I don't really know if something in that vein will come up between them or not (so far, not even minor clues about it).
You could try; https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/28601/arrogant-young-master-template-a-variation-4 Unfortunately it's been dropped now it seems, but I would still say to give it a try if you got some time to spare.
Don't worry, I've read half the cultivation webnovels out there and dropped practically all of them. I've only ever dedicated myself to one webnovel, and that's My House of Horrors.
Once Upon a Time, There's a Spirit Sword Sect The mc is out of the norm, i never see this kind of mc in another novel. My Senior Brother is Too Steady Normal cultivation novel, quite good. The Librarian of Heaven Path More to comedy and face-slapping. Tho the mc has a development the more you read.
Library of Heaven's Path was pretty amazing. Great for a laugh, but it does get a little repetitive sometimes.
