Which Qidian Novel Should I Translate?

Yes, I contacted Qidian about their 30% revenue share model. They agreed but I haven't heard back since I was told to pick a novel

 

I heard back. I will start with an Urban Romance Female Lead novel.
I will look at other novels later but I will avoid cultivation novels.
They are too time consuming to translate

All of this dudes novels were dropped. He is a pretty great author that also enjoys a pretty sizable fanbase in China, plus he also doesn't do cultivation novels.

I am taking it one step at a time.
I use to read the novel. Chapters are very long.
I run a translation website, I know how easily readers can turn on you.
One chapter of Kingdom Bloodline can be equivalent to 10 chapters of other novels.
People do not care. I will get attacked for not releasing as many chapters when the word count is the same.
Dreams and reality clash as they say.
I will walk first before I run.

Aw, too bad I like the cultivation novels.

Just a thought - have you looked into which novels will be adapted into a drama soon? One of those might be a good bet for the built-in audience.

Actually, I do know that novel. The reviews on that are a trainwreck, lol!

 

It might be a question of scale. An extra 500 readers for me(boosted by an adaptation) would be a significant boost but I guess that wouldn't even be noticeable for a big website like yours.

You were on my ignore list so I expected insults.
Doomsday Wonderland should be standard Xuahuan or xianxia. I will have to pass for now.
I will stick to novels that are easy to translate. If that works out then I will take on novels that are more of a challenge.
I need to walk before I run as I have previously said.
Urban Female Lead Romance novels are usually easier and cheaper to translate. I am being pragmatic since I use a paid team.

Well, we can all be asses once in a while.
I can even spot the errors in Sword Dynasty by Dreams of Jianghu which is one of the best translators in this community.
Cultivation novels are very difficult to translate.
The Chinese language can be very flowery and vague. It makes Shakespeare look like kindergarten English.
I have been doing this for years, I should know.
I will be paying for each chapter and hoping that Qidian pays me from ad revenue. I am risk-averse.
I will stick to novels that are cheap and easy to translate until I am confident I will be paid and how well I will be paid.
After I get my first paycheck from Qidian, I will let you all know and I will pick another novel. I have more than one Chinese translator on my team.

you didnt answer my question on how doomsday was a xiaxia
in any case, ive been really losing hope of having that work translated, but would really really appreciate it if your team would give it a shot. it has a really good plot, and its already 800 ish ch translated.

 

I am mixing up the novel with another one. Many novels have Doomsday in the name. I will forward the novel to my team and get back to you in about 24 hours
