There is yin-yang cultivation in the novel and author used it 2x, once to heal a character, once to boost character power (healing in the 2nd case was just a bonus). There are repetitive parts of the story, but not this.

In the sex cultivation they should be exchanging vital yin and yang, how the bloodlines become part of it I am not sure. But he has dragon marrow, so he should be able to regenerate anything dragon related he could lose with the sex. And he also gains from the cultivation, so it's basically just the phoenix bloodline he may be losing a bit of, unless it can regenerate back after a while.
