Isn't it just the current trend? The numbers of villainess rebirth/transmigration, hero summoning, Korean ex-empresses and little princess plots, and Chinese BL novels are increased so I guess people go on binges reading the same tropes and vote accordingly.
What's wrong with shoujo? Everybody wants to be loved. As much as I want my ego to be fed, I want a taste of romance. We shut-ins have dreams too, y'know.
Based on some survey I've seen from time to time, there is a significant increase in female readers for NU. I dunno the exact number, but just from the rank shifts, it would probably close to a half of our active population on NU already. And you are right that females are more likely to be more engaging to the community than us males do, but the percentage is not that large. From what I've seen from the survey, it's a difference of around 10 - 20% at most. So, if there are 10 out of every 100 males reviewer, then the females would have 11 - 12 out of every 100 females reviewer as well. The number is certainly bigger than males, but not that much. However, do mind that the sample is only taken within NU and with a limited random number as well. So, don't treat it as a general fact. So, I figure that the key factor is more likely because of the overwhelming female population in the recent years, instead of males are lacking as a reviewer.
The translation also generally reflects the state of the community as well. If the readers community have a huge amount of female readers in it, then the translation team that targeted female readers would be far more supported than those who don't. The translation team preference's have little effect on the overall situation, as someone would substitute them if nobody translated it or dropped it. So, from the current trend, we could see there is a huge increase in female readers for sure.
Not at all. However, you should mind one fact: Before you want something, you have to make an effort for it or sacrificed something for it. Just because you want to eat, you can't just pray and hope for rice to magically appear on your table. You have to do it slowly and steadily. Patience and perseverance. Accumulate experience/failures and never give up your pursuit. Eventually, you'll be surprised that your wish is insignificant at that level. You'll have something far more appealing than patting a girl's head.
< I've long abandoned Ratings & Reviews blocked it using Ublock Origin. < Novel with BL is a no-no for me i don't hate it I'm not that shallow it just not my cup of tea.
