THE REAL AWAKENING. The entire series was dark angst and a lot of pain, but it was such amazing writing too. THE ENDING THOUGH...!!!! I read the raws; translations are still at beginning. But you can tell from just the prologue that it is very dark.
I came here just to see if anyone would recommend that cause it was the first title that came to mind when I saw this thread lol. That novel can actually summon depression. Never going back to it.
......Novels that make one's suffer?.....well, i don't know any of them. The only one which i have read and fits that category somewhat is Nidome no Yuusha, what the MC(and the rest of his party, i stopped around the chapter 100 something) had to go through is really horrible. But i stopped reading it because the story wasn't getting interesting for me. Rather than novels i know mangas which have made me cry for real. Spoiler I was searching for mangas on an H site and i found those.........the stories in those mangas(different authors) were really........sad......i curse whoever had the idea to upload those mangas in that kind of site. Even though i went with lustful intentions.......i end-up crying from sadness...... There is this one which i haven't read yet(i'm lacking the courage to do), it's called "Fujimi Lovers"(Undead lovers). It's about an impossible love Spoiler Everytime the MC confess his crush get's "erased" and reapears back with personality, looks, background and.....can't remember what else.....completely different so he has to start again, and again, and again........well, i haven't read it yet so the story might develop different that in just an infinite cycle. If you want to break there isn't any need to just read a manga or novel which is exclusively sad, you can also accompany it with some background music. This two for example are two of the songs i listen when i read a sad part of a novel or manga: This one starts sad too but the lyrics have hope at the last part, so only listen it when there is a part which starts sad but there is some sort of hope at the end.
