Weird that you decided to quote a post from page 1, but I generally upload images to imgur and get the share links for BBCode.
It's a survivorship bias joke. An online survey used to do an online class attendees of their availability to thing required for online class. It's like asking passenger on the airport arrival how save their flight are and whether they had accident or not during flight.
Survivorship bias. Basically, say there are 100 students. In reality, 90 students have working hardware + net while 10 do not. So ideally the conclusion of the survey should be 90% The survey is taken online. Thus only 90 students can take part in it (aka the survivors). Thus the conclusion is everyone has working hardware + net as all those 90 students do. The problem is ofc, the 10 are never represented creating bias => incorrect conclusion. ------------------------------------------------- The image is that of a classic example of this kind of bias. Basically in one of the world wars, data was collected of where the planes got shot the most so that better armour protection could be designed. The data collected is the image. The incorrect conclusion here would be that the places with more dots should be armoured as that is where most bullets hit. The correct conclusion is that, those places are armoured well enough as the planes that take bullets there do survive and return to base and thus can get their data collected in the first place. The ones who take damage elsewhere usually drop dead and crash and do not get their data recorded.
