My friend saw me reading a novel very seriously (as if I was reading my dog's health report (if I ever had a dog :blob_teary:)) and asked me to introduce her to this whole new world (don't mind my Chuunibyou self).

I was embarrassed because, the novel was a BL with the steamy scene going on :sweating_profusely:. I told her I would recommend her a GREAT novel later in order to shoo her away .

But when I sat down to think of a few novels suitable for newbies who are VERY innocent ..........I was a blank sheet of paper.

All the novels I've read are...............let's say Not-so-innocent :blob_zipper_mouth: . so any recommends for a child who is too pure to be my depraved self's friend??? (she did say she was into horror. And im a scaredy cat who never read anything even slightly angsty so preferably a newbie horror novel??? idk)

:justabotheart: Thank you for your help senpai's!!! :blobhug:

    First, a mandatory Invisble Dragon.

Now that that’s out of the way,
Lord of the Mysteries (but since that’s on webnovel, the chapters are behind a paywall... Too bad that all the alternatives are illegal
, which means that I cannot recommend them)
    Demon king
    Everyone Else is a Returnee
    Never die Extra
    A Wild Last Boss Appeared
    Apotheosis of a Demon
    Story of a careless demon
    Ending Maker
Endo and Kobayashi’s Live Commentary on the Villainess
    Trash of the count family
    Tearmoon Empire story (Sasha mia-sama)

I’ll stop here before it becomes too long...

    STAN YES YES YES YES

but also Lord of the Mysteries should be a go to started novel only because it leaves a good impression on a good asian in particular chinese novel and leaves the readers with an interest in online asian/webnovels

my starting online novel was Reverend Insanity i think

→ These are all novels where MC gets dragged into horror game worlds; high on horror + mystery with quick good plots (so even someone not used to reading a lot won't get bored) - and very mild BL perfect for a newbie:blobpeek: to get her into the genre because theres nothing better than pulling more people into the fujoshi pit muhahaha :blobspearpeek:

I also highly recommend other supernatural BLs like
    [1]New Times New Hell
[2]Opening a shop in the nightmare world
[3] After getting a job in the nether world, i became famous
[4]Master Grim Reaper makes his debut at C position
→ all these have horror/supernatural elements, very mild BL, and nice plots!!

i don't think you should read Lord of the Mysteries first, you'd have too high of expectations later and get let down

Honestly I feel like instead of starting with novels, it'd be better to introduce them to manhwas or manga. Just to give them better foundation. Yanno, like once your friend learns that their fav manhwa/manga has a novel, they'll just (hypothetically) naturally be drawn to it.

    But anyway.

world seed on Royal Road is an ok entry novel though it gets boring at the second volume

molting the mortal coiling is good novel for cultivation also on RR

library of the heavenly path is good for a face slapping entry novel

the new world, or he who fights with monsters on RR for an apocalypse novel

screw the force i have money on spacebattles for scifi fanfic

compass of thy soul, then the follow up direct thy to peace on fanfiction.net for a more slice of life drama with a little action thrown in

thats all i can think of if you want something else give me a genre and ill try to think of something the two apocalypse novels and the first one especially are a bit smutty but shouldn’t be two bad if my memory is good

I agree with how much it's a hassle to find where you left off. However whenever I learn that the manhwa/manga i'm reading has a novel, I immediately read the novel instead, but there are some cases in which I read both the novel and the manhwa/manga version solely for the visuals. Because it just feels like i'm missing out on the story when I don't read the novel.
