It is technically possible to do that in any country but I am only interested in countries where one can live comfortably with that amount. Cheap quality health care is a must, so the US is automatically disqualified.

Here are the ones I know. I hope you can add yours

    1. Georgia
    2. Colombia
    3. Mexico
    4. Vietnam
    5. Taiwan
Two heads are better than one and there is no shame in being wrong
I would also consider India since health care is fairly cheap compared to the US

    Happy New Year

I am looking to emigrate alone but too poor for expensive places.
    Cheers!

We have condos/apartment with rent of $200-400 a month, depending on your preferred lifestyle, the rest can be budgeted to other necessities.

Where I live (a tier II city), you can easily get a 3LDK (1500 sq. ft, not furnished) under $220/month in a decent neighbourhood with the market/mart/bus stop within walking distance and the intl airport/rail less than a half hours' (closer to quarter of an hour, really) distance away. Atleast, those were the prices a couple of years ago (don't think they changed much).

Healthcare may be cheaper than the US but good quality healthcare is def. lacking unless you pay big bucks or have health insurance.

That said, if you're thinking of starting a business, esp. one that is reliant on Indian employees, you are in for a world of hurt. :sweating_profusely:

    China.
if you move to a 3rd tier city or below (mind you those cities are still quite developed and offer a lot) the rent is cheaper.
Food, utilities and medical is affordable. and it's decent too. though you will need to know the language to get around.
also immigrating to china is not easy so I doubt you'll honestly bother with it

You're sorely mistaken, foreigners aren't allowed to own controlling interest on sensitive sectors like media. Otherwise all properties are ownable by foreigners as long they don't infringe on the rights and benefits of the Filipino people.
That's the ideal scenario, reality is much different. Just much bureaucracy and red tape.

Depends on how you live though...

People with low wages can do so because they don't live in luxuries. And their standard of luxuries are waaay different than first world country.
Even showering in hot water can be considered a luxury for some people.
On minimum wages, people don't go to malls, don't eat out on restaurants. Eating out means street vendors, and don't even try eating there if you're a foreigner. Street vendors food have 100% chance of you getting a typhoid. Why we don't get it? We're immune after getting it a couple of times.
For some, cable internet is a luxury too..

with 1K USD equivalent, i'd say you would be able to live (alone) quite comfortably in any of east asian country (except maybe singapore), even afford to own a (new) car and a house.

Most asian countries qualify for that kind of budget. In south- south east asia, you could live comfortably with less than half that amount. In most places in India, the daily meal expense can be as low as 1-3$ bringing the total to around a 100$ per month. House rent and other necessary expenses can be around 100-200$ so long as you are not in the costly neighborhood. If you don't splurge, you can spend 3 months easy on 1000$ budget in India.

$1000? That's a lot of money. In Malaysia, that's RM4000, in a country where the minimum wage is RM900 and most people barely make RM2000 a month, with the standard office clerk job paying between RM1200 to RM1500. Healthcare is quite good and considered very cheap. There are varying options for health insurance, depending on which can give the treatment of a king for only RM200 to RM300 a month. The government option also possible though unless you're a citizen, you have to pay the full price which is still much cheaper than American healthcare (if you're a citizen, you pay $0.25 for every (yes, every) outpatient healthcare since healthcare is subsidized in Malaysia). If you're a foodie, you can't go wrong in Malaysia, since the local palate is quite varied and almost every international taste is on offer, including the non-halal options.

As for rent, foreigners find Malaysian homes extremely cheap and is a favourite of the Japanese, Koreans and Hong Kong people. Whatever property you buy in Malaysia can be yours forever and be inherited by your children and Malaysia doesn't have inheritance tax. Among the youtube celebrities who seriously enjoyed life in Malaysia are Aki From Japan, iChang, Jetlag Warriors, Ken Abroad, Blimey (though they don't really live in Malaysia), Destinasi TV (owned and hosted by an American white man who ended up marrying in Malaysia), Mark O'Dea (British white man who stayed in Malaysia and got married to a local Malay girl, also a TV host) and manskickz (black British man who really wanted to move to Malaysia before he got stuck with a job in England). Since Malaysia is a multiracial country, no matter what race you are, even if you're a black man, you won't stand out, since nobody cares. Just ignore the politicians, they're always trying to spark racial issues for every campaign as if it's the only issue that exist.

If Malaysia is not what you're looking for, Thailand is another option. It has good healthcare at least in Bangkok area, and most people don't talk about it because they're always at the tourist traps. Thailand is great for a foreigner, just two problems. If you're white, they'll try to scrape every bit of dollar from you at every turn, which is not strange, but the level of their scraping is quite scary. In contrast to Malaysia, you can't own property in Thailand. You can buy property, but it's ultimately, not yours. Any property or business you own in Thailand must have a Thai citizen become the owner with at least 51% stake. Which means if you buy a house, you must find a Thai and give 51% ownership of the house to him regardless of how much you paid for it, which also means, he can also kick you out of your own house, that you paid for, at any time he wishes.

China does that for business though. It is not much different.
Indonesia does it too. Only truly rich nations do not. It is a stupid law that scares away Foreign investors

businesses in China are not transferred to a local at no cost though. it is harder and taxes/paperwork is a pain. but foreign owned businesses work pretty much the same as in West. the usual bad stories I hear end up being that the foreigner didn't read the contracts or such. in which chinese written part takes precedent over the English part. which is scummy and illegal if you can't read chinese, then the Chinese partner adds a scam clause in chinese and excludes it from the English version.
that's the only problem I know of. and I've met quite a few thriving foreigner owned businesses (small or franchised) who work without issues

New zealand is a damn cool place to live :)

I've seen some rent at 180 a week, though it looked pretty small. Usually rent with 3 bedrooms and all the necessities will set you back 350-380+ a week. You may be able to find a few deals cheaper, 2 bedrooms would be about 200-300+ if you find a good place.

Rural areas might be cheaper though I haven't looked.

Healthcare is alright, about as good as the UK though it ain't no australia.

Welfare and government support for citizens is amazing though and there's the added bonus of being almost coronavirus free.

    Happy New Year!

one does not simply ignore getting tagged

everyone sticks to asia, but @Wujigege, if you lower the bar and become open to a place with little stability, then, lo and behold: the world opens up its arms.

Moving places is not all about money.
    Consider:
    -linguistic barrier
    -socio-cultural barrier

Sure, doesn't sound like much when you have money and can afford hiring people, while you yourself can live without caring to keep up with local customs. But, in most cases, even if you're wealthy, to fully enjoy what the country presents, you have to be able to blend in.

    Another thing:
What's your profession? Do you distant-work? Will you have trouble finding a job with your skillset?
Here, speaking other languages comes a long way, cause it will open up new possibilities for you. And I don't mean that you can put it on your resume and people will pay you more. No, I mean that you will be able to get hired at the jobs in the service sector, like a waitress, a cashier etc - the jobs you can find fast in a case of an emergency.

If you don't know other languages, does that mean you'll be ok with being an outsider in the community? Are you a "people-person"?

Do you have requirements regarding the climate? Preferences about the weather? Health conditions that will make avoid certain countries because of their temperatures? You gotta consider that kind of stuff.

If you go for a warm country, you can save up on the heating. But will you be able to handle their summer?

Do you wanna get your own house? Will you rent? Co-rent? Where will you live - countryside or the city?

Can you keep a garden to grow your own food?

There's too little info for such a big decision as moving countries.

Honestly, you might as well google: "cheapest countries to live in", and then cross out those you don't like, and move to the

    [IMG] *last country standing

And that's not too bash on you or anything like that. It's just that you have to seriously consider what you want.

    Inner Mongolia.
You can comfortably live in a yurt with some goats and have money leftover to purchase yourself a loli and a few barrels of wine.
If you're too cheap to buy a loli, you can practise your horseriding skills and bridenap one from one of the 'stans.

Yes, it's real. Whether or not foreigners really did get kicked out by their Thai co-owners, Ai-chan has no data on that. The possibility is there and there has been cases of Thai co-owners with douchebag attitudes, but Ai-chan doesn't know of any expat who was personally kicked out like that.
