Lol, I see gintama fans here. Okay, so I read the novel - well MTLed it, so there can be mistakes below. Spoiler: Quick summary So, the new Elizabeth is trying to act like the old Elizabeth who was supposed to be all flirty and arrogant but she can't really do that well. She finds out that Sylvester works with the second prince as his aide while her the fiance is the crown prince's aide which she finds weird. Since she thought Sylvester who would be the next Duke, should be with the crown prince. She also starts working as a maid at the second prince's office. (Apparently there's a lot of work - maybe that's why neither of the princes are fighting for the crown ). She gets harassed and almost attacked by the old elizabeth's ex-lover/fling with a knife. He wanted to divorce his wife and marry Elizabeth. She is saved by the fiance - Ain/ewen. She sends him a letter and cookies as thank you. I think she also send him her disastrous embroidered handkerchief. She ends up working with paperwork in the second prince's office and is once caught by the fiance. At this point, the fiance was already feeling weird and suspicious about her and had started investigating and seeing her paperwork he realizes this is not the the old Elizabeth but someone else. He's also subtly indicating he wants to help her escape the Duke's place first and later when he confronts them Sylvester lies and send him away. Meanwhile Elizabeth who is suspicious of the old Elizabeth's disappearance finds out that Sylvester is not the son of the Duke but the son of one of the Duke's ex wives from her previous marriage and that's why he won't be the next Duke but the one who marries Elizabeth would be. Which is why Sylvester was working with the second prince and not the crown prince. She also finds the old Elizabeth's diary. Turns out the old Elizabeth was in love with Sylvester who treats her like a sister and whom she calls brother ( the diary is creepy because she writes about how she wanted and loved her brother so much and did all those things to get his attention. And she wrote I love you brother in every page and about the creepy gifts she sent him ) she also wrote about why she was running away and possibly where. The new Elizabeth had sympathy for Sylvester for ensuring this horror. Sylvester confesses that he likes her and didn't diligently look for the old Elizabeth (even when he had an idea where she was or break the engagement because he wanted the new Elizabeth near him longer. She rejects him though and he wonders if this is how the old Elizabeth felt and how painful one sided love is. He decided to send the letter to break off the engagement and free the new Elizabeth. When she goes, she's later kidnapped by the old Elizabeth who was jealous of the new Elizabeth getting attention from her "brother" and tells her that Spoiler: secret they are actually twins separated at birth (no, I'm not kidding). That explains why they look the same except for minute differences. Their mother is someone whom the new Elizabeth thought was her aunt. Technically they are the illegitimate children of the Duke and the aunt who was thought to be infertile by her in laws (fyi: her husband was infertile but they refused to admit it even after she was pregnant) the mother's father asked the Duke to take responsibility and he said he'd take for only one the new Elizabeth was sent to the mother's brother. The new Elizabeth is saved by the fiance, Sylvester and a few knights who realized she was kidnapped and got a threatening letter. The old Elizabeth is detained and lots of facts are revealed and the fiance gets to know about her and the new Elizabeth. The fiance (who's not a fiance anymore), was ordered by his family before to be elizabeth's fiance and be the next Duke but he finally decides to chuck it all away and be disowned. He later goes to meet the new Elizabeth and wants to help her dream to be a government officer/worker - well whatever paperwork she did before for the second prince. Her (adoptive) father and brother barge in on them and want to take her back - they are a bit overprotective and love her. She convinced them to let her fulfil her dream and be with the fiance who also proposes to her. So, he did become her real fiance. She later find work with the second prince who's happy to have her work there. She was worried about meeting Sylvester but he's now at the crown prince's office and will probably be the next Duke. Blood is not thicker than water in this novel, perhaps except the royal family. It's usually the opposite. Ps: I think Sylvester is still salty about the new Elizabeth rejecting him and the fiance doesn't like him very much either. End. The novel's completed, I think. Phew.
