I am average. But it depends on the device . If it is one I am familiar with I can type fast without mistakes but if it is an unfamiliar one it takes some time

3 words per minute. Whether it's a laptop or a phone, these da** keyboards are not for me. The keys are so fu**ing small for my liking!

I can button mash like being on steroids but as for my typing speed, eh, its either slow or average. I rarely type since i rarely texted or talk to people, much less type fast.

Back when i was using a computer keyboard i could type fairly quick and consistent speed. Now im on a tablet only using fat thumbs that constantly miss their intended buttons.... so yeah im typing much slower and constantly having to correct and retype things.

If I am looking at the keyboard while typing, then I am bloody fast. But if I have to look elsewhere to read and then type, I am slow as snail.

I first learned to type during Junior High School on a manual typewriter. I think 8th grade, around 40 years ago. Yes, it was a whole class dedicated to teaching typing (asdf, fdsa, etc). Those manual typewriters were a trip, very interactive.

During high school 10th grade typing class, my fastest speed was 45 wpm on an IBM Selectric electric typewriter. Those were nice, very clicky. Unfortunately, I took my teacher's advice to take the optional additional typing class during 11th grade. My typing speed didn't increase, my error rate increased a lot. So it was a waste of a class. It was a sign of the future, though. My accuracy really sucks now, but at least I can back space on a computer.

My family bought a Smith Corona electric typewriter for us kids to use for school reports.

Oh, also back in 11th grade, we had a COBOL programming class that used punch cards. We had to learn how to touch type on the number pad. There was even a test where we had to type out 80 digits to fill out the punch card without looking. Nowadays, I find it easier to use the number pad for numbers rather than the number keys above the letters on the keyboard.

I can’t type at all on mobile (lol), but on keyboard, my best is around 60 wpm. However, I will admit my accuracy on the bottom line of the keyboard is not the greatest tbh, so my speed can fluctuate a lot.

I'm the opposite. If I look at my fingers while typing, I screw myself up with my mind trying to spell out the words. If I just touch type, then my mind just thinks about the word as a whole and my fingers make it happen automatically.

In my good old days, I think that I could do 90-100 wpm without even trying. Now that I am a boring adult, 70 wpm is what I can do at most if its a good day :v
