When WallStreetsBets was close to becoming paper hands(and selling stocks), the world saw, and the world responded, "We got this."

This is one of the most beautiful things I've seen. :blobsob::blobsob::blobsob::blobsob::blobsob::blobsob::blobsob::blobsob::blobsob:

The world came together to fight against the rich jerks in hedge funds. Looks like this year is going to be great! :bloblove::bloblove::bloblove::bloblove::bloblove::bloblove::bloblove:

For those not in the know, r/WallStreetBets are a bunch of random individual retail i̶n̶v̶e̶s̶t̶o̶r̶s̶ gamblers who buy and sell stock. Various users noticed that Gamestop, a store that sells games, was being shorted (aka sold and bought stocks to lower the stock's price), and wanted to squeeze these hedge funds for money by buying Gamestop stocks. More info can be found on Google Sensei.

Anyways, sometime today, the rich and wealthy people on Wall Street decided to stop the buying of GMEs, causing the price of stocks to drop considerably, making people get paper hands (refer to above). The people around the world noticed, and decided that the little man shouldn't be subjected to such an (alleged) illegal manipulation of the market, and stepped in to buy GME stocks.

Disclaimer: I am not an expert on finance or law. This post is in no way saying illegal things did happen, but when you see millions of people unable to buy stock for some reason, there is probably a rich man/woman/group behind it. Also, this is not legal or financial advice. Consider the risks yourself and inform yourself before buying stocks.

I love watching rich people cry. They're so obliviously pathetic when they whine.

Also let's watch AMC go to the moon.

A lot of regular people piled on as the stock was rocketing up, but it's going to run out of new money to keep it boosted at some point. And then it'll drop like a rock. It's all fun and games until you're the one still standing when the music stops as you watch your money vaporize.

Been there, done that in the past. There's no point in getting involved unless you had the opportunity to join within the first few minutes. Once CNBC starts to talk about it, it's too late.

Very true. No retail investor should buy any more of the stock. Those who have already bought, they have to hold it for as long as possible. Whether for finance or their so called political thoughts. Once the flood gates open, it all goes down.

Shorting is an investing strategy a lot of Hedge Fund Firms use. Basically its like,
Carl borrows a bike from Tom.
Carl then Sells Tom's bike to a pawn shop for $30.
Waiting for the day the price drops so he can buy it back.

    Scenario 1
The Pawn shop can't sell the bike easily, because bikes are so common so it's price is $5.
Carl goes back to the Pawn Shop and buys the Bike, making a profit of $25
Then Carl gives Tom back his bike, and everything is fine

    Scenario 2
Bikes are scarce, the Pawn shop to make a profit lists it at $100.
Carl is panicking, he sold Tom's bike for $30, and Tom is asking where's his bike.
Carl is forced to buy back the bike at $100, with a loss of $70.
In order to return Tom's bike back to him.

The $GME situation is scenario #2, except retail investors are buying up all the bikes in the area, making the price of bikes shoot up astronomically (supply & demand).

Pretty sure there are some one-percenter buying the stock and made money.

Only a few unlucky one-percenters actually lost money.
