Discussion What's your favorite trope?

For me, I honestly love angst or childhood friends to lovers. What about you guys?

 

I guess mc hiding his identity/strength and bursting out at critical moment.

Also reunions.

 

I am the opposite, I don't like Friends to lovers, I always look for enemies to lovers novels

 

I honestly love the trope where two cold blooded characters slowly warming up to each other. Slow burn, you know? Or when one of them intends to not fall in love (e.g. just using their partner or smth) but still ends up falling in the end, then they desperately try to close off the proof of their past misdeeds. Lol

CEO and Employee. Acts Cold but soft hearted and looks innocent but scheming and could pack a punch.

 

adventure I guess.

 

I don't know if this could be called a trope. But I love when an OP or at least a strong character shows their weaknesses. Another maybe when a though and cold character slowly melting because of their companions or love interest.

 

I like the struggle of a former villainess or side character.

 

When the mc is stuck between hope and despair a constant fight again the world but above all against himself. A duality here all along the story. Making us at the end of the story change a little bit as ephemeral as it is

 

I love the gender bender trope where the girl crossdresses as a guy and becomes super good friends with the ML. Then the ML starts falling for her, and starts questioning whether he’s gay or not. Gets me every time.

 

I like it when a powerful figure (CEO, Emperor) in society falls in love with a silly girl...

 

When the protagonist beats up the final elder/influential leader and can finally be considered 'strong' for three chapters.

 

Power couple or when there are more than 1 protagonist, like Regressor instruction manual, Trash of the count's family, or Omniscient reader.

 

recently it has been modern cooking impressing people from another world.

 

This is a hard one. Either Xanatos Gambit or Chekhov's Gun.

 

There is -as of moment of writing- only one trope that I hold value above all others: Heroic Sacrifice.
