Like the title says, post the most dumb line you have read, no MTL, just bad writing.

Post inspired by something I just read

“The so-called Ancient Ruins is the same thing as Immortal Palace in nature,” Golden Rooster explained. “Both of them are independent spaces created by great practicers with Divine Sense through Space Division Skill in antiquity times. The difference between the two is that Immortal Palace has always been used while the other was abandoned.”

“You mean both of them are independent spaces divided in antiquity times?” Junior Leopard asked.

I think I have to drop it over that dialogue alone.

I guess from Stop! Friendly Fire!
Context: They are fighting in the dark underground world.
The sun is actually a massive ball of condensed light magic, basically a miniature magical sun.
Lee Shin Woo (MC) controls shadows.
Seagald (Villain) is inside the sun and controls it.
Basically, the sun is creating darkness(shadows) because it emits light.....but the whole place was already in shadows because there is no light in the first place without the sun....

Maybe not the dumbest, but probably the most famous of them all.

I roughly remember ATG describing a 13-year old girl as hot enough to give some near-death geezers a raging boner.
It really was a special kind of dumb and disgusting.

I can't remember the exact lines, though the general meaning is present in most Chinese novels:
"I'm sorry I'm too stupid to understand, I'm just a woman after all." I HATE THIS!

I drop novels where the MC disregards someone's intelligence because they're a woman. But I HATE it when an author decides to make woman character deride themselves for being a woman!
At least for the first one you can argue (and fail miserably) that it is only the MC that's sexist, not the author. The second one is the author (obviously a man), not only directly stating their opinion but imposing it on a woman (no matter how imaginary).

'Thor Zeus' is a person btw - I love how creative the author's naming sense was. [IMG]

"Reliance sect meaning is for you to rely on someone"

The line is just too cringey, this sentence is still keeping me away from ISSTH even till date.

Lol the first thing that comes to my mind is something from class teacher system bl qt. ....

It isnt fantasy or anything, its a modern novel. So uh... the context is that a secretary of a politician sold question papers or something and blamed it on the politician. ML( ML is a psychologist) hypnotised him, he told him everything when he was in his subconscious state... (i know a lot of novels make this mistake but hypnosis doesnt work this way).

inevitably the dumbest lines are when the author is trying to preach at the audience. Usually this is used to expound a particular philosophy or other deeply felt belief and they invariably feel awkward and offputting. Of all the authors I've read Gu Long seems to be the most prone to doing this (although he has a lot of competition!). The worst of his lines usually go somewhere along the lines of, "All women are..." or "All women believe..."

Martial god asura, even for this hot garbage of a novel, this line was pretty awfull : "Of course he clearly knew what the Mysterious Techniques were. They were called the Mysterious Techniques because they were techniques, and they were mysterious."

To be fair though... I think its a reverse ironic foreshadow moment where Meng hao eventually breaks out of his naivety and realizes one can only rely on oneself also theres more to the sect than one sees at the beginning

90% of the time, dumb lines in novel, manga, anime, etc are misstranslation, because not everything can be translated from one language to another, some words/sentences in a language doesnt have its equivalent in another language. even if they does, there are some specific nuances/knowledge needed to fully understood it. And, dont forget the fact that most languages doesnt have a logical structure, have alot of inconsistent grammar/special rules, have many double meaning (or god forbid, more than double) words, etc (english)

10% of the time, the author is at fault. maybe because the author forgot about some plot, or just being dumb
